FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 7/24/19
Contents
MLB DFS is a high variance game, but one of the more fun fantasy sports to play. Cash games you want to find consistent high floor pitchers, and the same goes for hitters. Tournaments you want to find lower owned bats and pitchers that carry huge upside. This article will point you in the direction of both.
Pitchers
Shane Bieber ($10,100) – Shane Bieber is in a tremendous spot tonight against the Blue Jays. Their lineup has a 22.2% strikeout rate against right-handers this season. Bieber has over a 30% strikeout rate on the year, and is top ten in strikeouts among starting pitchers. He has nasty offspeed stuff, working over a 40% whiff rate on his curveball and slider. Toronto does not match up well with these, and really who would against this stuff? Cleveland are small road favorites, and the Jays implied total sits at an even four runs. There are a few options on the slate for pitching, but Bieber comes out as a strong favorite.
Cash Hitters
Anthony Rendon ($4,200) – This one was a fairly obvious play, but Anthony Rendon is the pay up option to choose tonight. Keep an eye on the doubleheader lineups, but he should be in there. He has a .452 wOBA and .321 ISO off left-handers this season. His hard-contact is a shade over 50% and he has an average exit velocity of 90mph. Kyle Freeland has taken a major step backwards this season, allowing a .396 wOBA and .284 ISO to right-handers. Hard-contact is up over 40% and even lefties have teed off. It is a good night for the Nationals offense, and the projected lineup is filled with bats who have mashed left-handers.
Freddie Freeman ($4,000) – Freddie Freeman continues to roll with a .424 wOBA and .277 ISO off right-handed pitching. He is a low strikeout bat at 16%, and his hard-contact rate is over 50%. Brad Keller has been a pedestrian right-hander, who relies on his slider and weak fastball. Hitters have a .373 wOBA against his sinker and fastball. Freeman hits sliders fairly well with a .349 wOBA and .235 ISO. Combining with the rest of the stats, he matches up well with Freeman. He is a bit pricey, and you may have room for just one option, but if you are building a few lineups, Freeman exposure is a solid way to go.
Marwin Gonzalez ($2,800) – The Twins and Yankees put on an epic game last night. We have a shot to see another offensive explosion on both sides. Vegas is expecting one, as both implied totals are 5.5 or higher. J.A. Happ is on the hill, allowing a .340 wOBA and .223 ISO to right-handed hitters. While you can make the case for a lot of right-handed bats, coughs, Nelson Cruz, Marwin Gonzalez is a cheaper option. He has a 45% hard-contact rate against southpaws, and a .360 wOBA.
Tournament Hitters
Brian Dozier ($2,700) – Brian Dozier has a .264 ISO and .422 wOBA off southpaws, which has been his only real contribution to Washington this season. Dozier is a cheap option for Washington exposure, and gets the luxury of facing Kyle Freeland. As mentioned above, he has really struggled this season. Right-handed hitters have a .396 wOBA and .284 ISO off him, and a hard-contact rate over 40%. The Nationals have a 5.8 implied total in Game 2 of the doubleheader. We will need to keep an eye out for any names sitting in the second game, but as of now Dozier projects to be in the lineup.
Colin Moran (2,600) – Colin Moran has been sneaky good this season, sporting a .364 wOBA and .202 ISO off right-handed pitching this season. Moran is a cheap third base option with power. He also is in a good spot against Adam Wainwright. The veteran righty has allowed a .382 wOBA, .221 ISO, and 44% hard-contact rate to left-handed hitters. Wainwright just doesn’t have the stuff he used to, and Pittsburgh has had his number over the last few starts. Moran is in a sneaky good spot here.
