FanDuel MLB Daily Fantasy Picks 7/26/19
Contents
MLB DFS is a high variance game, but one of the more fun fantasy sports to play. Cash games you want to find consistent high floor pitchers, and the same goes for hitters. Tournaments you want to find lower owned bats and pitchers that carry huge upside. This article will point you in the direction of both.
Pitchers
Zack Greinke ($10,200) – Arizona come in as a -181 road favorites, and the Marlins have the lowest implied total on the slate (3.2). Zack Greinke is one of the few pitchers I feel safe about tonight. He has a 3.65 xFIP and 24% strikeout rate on the season. He also gets a below average Marlins lineup, with a .314 wOBA, .141 ISO, and 24% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. Greinke is holding both sides of the plate under a .300 wOBA on the season, and he isn’t allowing a ton of power compared to last season. While the strikeout upside on Greinke’s upside isn’t the same on the season, the Marlins lineup should be able to help a bit. Five hitters have over a 20% strikeout rate against righties, and you also add the pitcher spot in.
Cash Hitters
Kris Bryant ($4,100) – Kris Bryant is a solid pay up option against a lefty in Miller Park. He has a .477 wOBA and .389 ISO off southpaws this season, and he is back to his usual ways of mashing baseballs. Gio Gonzalez is on the bump, and has struggled for the most part this season. He has allowed a .351 wOBA and .184 ISO to right-handers. Bryant matches up well against the lefty pitches Gonzalez throws, mainly the fastball and sinker. He will work in a changeup, which Bryant has a .351 wOBA off of. While he is a bit expensive, Bryant has a ton of upside and worth a look in all formats.
Tommy Pham ($3,700) – It is a small sample size for Waguespack on the hill, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing early on. While ERA estimators point to better days, right-handers have been teeing off with a .447 wOBA and 304 ISO. Hard-contact is up to 47% and he has just a 39% groundball rate. Pham has a .250 ISO off cutters, and a .304 ISO off his fastball range. Overall Pham has a .206 ISO and .351 wOBA off right-handers on the year. He has started off the second half with a few homers, and gets a bump in Toronto
Corey Seager ($2,900) – While Corey Seager might be under $3,000 and hitting in the bottom of the lineup, he still checks in as a strong play tonight. Seager has a .391 wOBA and .225 ISO off right-handers this season. His contact rates is one of the best on the team and he has a 10% walk rate. Anibal Sanchez has not done well against left-handers, allowing a .359 wOBA, .234 ISO, and 39% groundball rate. Sanchez throws a lot of junk, and Seager has strong contact rates against most of them.
Tournament Hitters
Ozzie Albies ($3,200) – Ozzie Albies is in a sneaky good spot, sitting with a casual .324 wOBA and .166 ISO off right-handers. This won’t stand out for many, but there is more to like. Jake Arrieta has allowed a .393 wOBA and .211 ISO to left-handed hitters this season. His groundball rate drops from 60% to 44% to left-handed hitters from right-handed. Hard-contact also shoots up to lefties. Arrieta throws a sinker 50% of the time, which isn’t doing well this season. Albies has a .426 wOBA and .269 ISO off sinkers in his career, with a 42% groundball rate.
Nick Castellanos (3,300) – If you are looking for a late night home run, Nick Castellanos has a .302 ISO off left-handed pitching this season. This also includes just a 12% strikeout rate and .477 wOBA. His hard-contact rate is over 50%. He takes on Kikuchi, who has struggled in the MLB coming from overseas. He has just a 16% strikeout rate and has allowed a .206 ISO to right-handed hitters. Great spot for him, even in a pitcher park like T-Mobile. I still would like to always refer to it as Safeco.
