Nine games on tap tonight, and most are high scoring affairs. The only one not projected to break the 210 mark is Charlotte at home against New York. No real surprise there with how those two offenses have been this season. There are two blowout concerns with Minnesota as ten point dogs to Miami, and Houston as 11 point favorites at home against Memphis. I am not really taking the blowout factor into consideration on either. Houston and Miami have two of the higher totals tonight as far as implied team totals, and Dallas isn’t too far behind. Games in Houston, Washington, Miami, San Antonio, and Phoenix all have totals over 230. A few big names to keep an eye on, as Trae Young is questionable with the flu. Jimmy Butler is also still out for personal reasons, and is listed as questionable.
Cash Game Picks
Joel Embiid – C – $10,200
Joel Embiid once again makes sense as a pay up center, even with a few values at the position as well. Cleveland ranks 22nd against centers this season, and Embiid is going to be at an elite fantasy level with Ben Simmons on the shelf in the next few weeks. Embiid projects for 24-11-3 with one steal and one block tonight. He is coming off a monster game, where he posted 49-14-3 with one block and three steals. He has destroyed some of the weaker defenses against centers of late, and Cleveland is next on the list.
Spencer Dinwiddie – PG – $7,100
This game is one to target with two teams that play up in pace, but also struggle on the defensive side as well. Spencer Dinwiddie is $7,100, but projects for a strong value at 39.6 fantasy points, which is good for 5.4 Pts/$1k. Dinwiddie has a 42 fantasy point ceiling over the last ten games, and a 27 fantasy point floor. He doesn’t break the bank and is good exposure to one of the highest projected scoring games on the slate.
Bradley Beal – SG – $9,400
Bradley Beal continues to do a lot in losing efforts, and that shouldn’t really change. He is cheaper than James Harden, but scoring like him of late. He has 50+ real points in back to back games, and projects for another big game tonight. Brooklyn ranks 18th against opposing shooting guards this season, and Beal is up there. He is averaging 50.5 fantasy points per game over the last ten, with a 42 fantasy point floor and 39% usage rate.
GPP Tournament Picks
Malik Beasley – SG – $5,800
I am also cool with Malik Beasley in cash games too, but I’m going to fit him in for a tournament name as well. He is averaging 30.6 fantasy points over his last five games, and has taken on a better role in Minnesota. Karl-Anthony Towns continues to miss time so there is a lot of usage to go around. Minnesota has a 111 implied total to target tonight, and I expect Beasley to be a big part of it.
DeMar DeRozan – SG – $6,900
LaMarcus Aldridge is ruled out, and before I get to fill in options, lets talk about DeMar DeRozan who is just below $7,000. He has a 5.9% increase in usage with Aldridge off the court this season, and 0.13 FPPM increase. This brings him to averaging 1.27 FPPM in over 400 minutes with Aldridge off, and a 33.5% usage rate. I like the upside he brings tonight, especially with this price tag. The Spurs still have a 114 implied total and Dallas is only favored 4.5 points. Projections give him the second best points per dollar value on the slate at shooting guard.
Jarrett Allen – PF – $5,400
Over the last five games, Jarrett Allen is averaging 28 FD points per game, and his ceiling over the last ten games has been 38 FD points. It is a great matchup against the Wizards, who rank 25th against opposing centers this season. Allen should continue to see decent minutes, and is a threat with defensive stats as well. There is some blocked shot potential as Washington has allowed the 9th most blocked shots per game to opposing centers.
Gorgui Dieng – C – $4,500
With Brandon Clarke and Jaren Jackson out, Gorgui Dieng is going to see a tick up in minutes. I love Dieng whenever he fills in, as he was a strong play back in Minnesota when Towns was out earlier this season. Dieng dropped back-to-back double doubles and also had four blocks in the last game. He is an efficient points per minute player and is a nice pivot away from Jakob Poeltl, who will be popular with Aldridge out.
Naz Reid – PF – $4,700
With Karl-Anthony Towns out we have seen James Johnson and Naz Reid pick up more minutes than usual. Johnson is more expensive, as Reid sits below $5,000. He has flashed some upside in Towns absence, especially the game against Boston. It is a tough matchup for Reid, as it was against Boston and Denver where he had successful games as well.
Kevin Huerter – SG – $4,900
If Trae Young misses tonight’s game, Kevin Huerter gets a 4% increase in usage. He has averaged 27 FD points per game with him out as well. He has been cheap on FanDuel for most of the season, and this isn’t a bad spot with Orlando ranking 19th against opposing shooting guards. Even if Young plays, he has hovered around 23-24 FD points per game this season.
