Quarterbacks

It is not a pretty week for matchups as most of the top arms are facing tough defenses and then we get a lot of middle-range quarterbacks that are just tough to trust. Kyler Murray is generally a quarterback I like to trust but the arm doesn’t seem right and this is a brutal matchup against the Rams. Aaron Rodgers is the guy I trust more and this defense is not good ranking 20th in DVOA against the pass. A lot of their numbers will look decent, but they have allowed strong games to quarterbacks this season. Rodgers is also producing at a strong rate and is the guy I trust in this range. The next is Ryan Tannehill at $7,800, facing a pedestrian Browns defense that is without a majority of their secondary players.

As far as cheaper options go, Matt Ryan is a tournament play if he can show up this week against New Orleans. The Saints still are a secondary I don’t mind attacking but Ryan’s numbers have really been down. Kirk Cousins and Jared Goff are those two guys you don’t know which one will show up but the matchups are their for the taking. I would bank on Cousins having a strong game and able to pay off that price tag.

Running Backs

There are two $10,000+ backs this week. Dalvin Cook and Derrick Henry are solid plays all around but they are also decent fades in tournaments with a couple of other backs in good spots. Nick Chubb on the opposite side of that Titans game is an excellent play. We saw the upside last week and the Titans run defense is bottom-12. James Robinson continues to put up big numbers and is averaging 16.6 FD points per game this season. Minnesota’s run defense has been spotty this season and Robinson’s workload continues to make him a safe option. Miles Sanders and Austin Ekeler are very cheap for the upside they bring. Sanders has the better of the matchups with the Packers still struggling. Sanders is someone I like a lot this week who has been solid when healthy this year. The Packers are also bottom five in run defense.

As far as value backs go, the Colts backfield has been frustrating just given the volume fluctuates week-to-week. Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines are both in play as tournament upside options, especially with the Texans having a bottom-five run defense. David Montgomery is $6,200 coming off his best fantasy game in a while. Still risky because it is the Bears, but running on Detroit has been an easy task this season.

Wide Receivers

There is some tremendous pay up options this week, as really the top four guys you can feel relatively comfortable with. Davante Adams gets the Eagles and likely will see Darius Slay, but that isn’t a matchup that will keep me off of him. The Adams-Rodgers connection has been in full force all year long. Metcalf is a major mismatch against everybody and gets the Giants who have a poor pass defense that has been masked by playing in the NFC East. Both him and Lockett are strong options in what should be a comfortable win for the Seahawks. AJ Brown is my guy this week getting the Browns who are missing key players in the secondary. Brown has averaged 15.3 FD points per game this season and the Browns are allowing the 10th most fantasy points per game. These numbers were higher but a couple of bad weather games and a Jags matchup sent them down a bit. This is a really good spot for the Titans as a whole. Corey Davis is the cheaper route and part of the Titans stack this week.

Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson get a Jacksonville defense that is allowing the 5th most fantasy points to wide receivers. This is a solid pivot away from the run game, especially if the Vikings are going to let Cook get some lesser reps. They mentioned him being a bit banged up and need to monitor the workload. Robert Woods, Allen Robinson, and DeVante Parker are tremendous options this week and not priced up enough either. Corey Davis, Jarvis Landry, Breshad Perriman, Denzel Mims, TY Hilton, and Michael Pittman are the value options I am looking at the most.

Tight Ends

Not a great week for tight ends, although most weeks fit that bill. Up top is Darren Waller, who is coming off a stinker and doesn’t have quite the appeal on FanDuel at these prices. We have seen a few big games but for the most part, his production can be found a bit cheaper. TJ Hockenson is in a good spot this week as the Bears have struggled against tight ends but also funnel quite a bit down with their strong secondary. He is really the only option they have on offense right now as Kenny Golladay is likely to miss another week. Evan Engram is coming off a great game and I would like him more if Daniel Jones was starting. However, he is still in play for GPPs. Robert Tonyan, Jonnu Smith, and Mike Gesicki are all intriguing options in good spots this week and the sub $6,000 price tags are not bad either.

Defense

Miami comes in as the top-priced defense this week as they face Cincinnati at home. With Allen under center for the Bengals this team has fallen off. The offensive line is in bad shape and Miami has a solid defense that has been scoring well in the fantasy department this season. You can continue to pay up on this site. Seattle and Indy are also strong plays this week and I would opt to go with them as tournament pivots just given the prices are not far off from what will be a high owned Miami cash defense. You can take some shots on cheaper defenses as the Bears and Packers are both in the lower $4,000s facing weak opponents. The Chargers are $3,900 and get the Patriots who have struggled to move the ball but also have a below-average offensive line and the Chargers pass rush is now healthy.
