There are a few scoring differences to be aware of if you are playing on FanDuel from a site like DraftKings. This is universal, but interceptions are just -1 in scoring and not -2 which seems to be the standard in season long leagues. FanDuel is a .5 per reception scoring league, so that does play a factor into building lineups. Tarik Cohen won’t have as much weight compared to PPR sites. There are also no yardage bonuses for crossing over a specific threshold. Now that you are caught up, it is time to look at some contrarian plays for the Week 5 Main Slate.
Deshaun Watson – $8,000
GPP Projection: 25.6
After the first four weeks, Atlanta comes in ranking 21st against the pass. Keanu Neal was a big loss for the secondary, and the overall defense that was already struggling to start the season. Quarterbacks against the Falcons have have scored 15, 21, 23, and 25 fantasy points so far this season. The 15 was Kirk Cousins in Week 1 where he threw just ten times. Watson had a very quiet Week 4 against the Panthers, and is in a bounce back spot against Atlanta. Houston sits with a 27 implied today, which is one of the highest on the main slate. He also has strong correlation plays with Hopkins and Fuller.
Ezekiel Elliott – $8,800
GPP Projection: 22.7
Dallas are -3.5 home favorites, and have a 25.25 implied total this week. They get Green Bay, who have been gashed on the ground game. Overall the Packers are allowing the third most fantasy points per game to opposing backs this season, and have allowed the second most rushing yards only behind Miami. Dalvin Cook rushed for 154 yards, the Broncos backs combined for 144, and the Eagles rushed for 159 yards between Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders. Ezekiel Elliot is in a prime spot to be fed, and already has two 100+ rushing yard games this season.
David Johnson – $6,800
GPP Projection: 19.8
David Johnson is criminally underpriced this week, and I am not quite sure why. He is averaging 16 FD points per game, and his down week came on the road against Baltimore. Cincinnati ranks 22nd against the run, but also have allowed a 31-290-3 line to opposing backs this season. It is no surprise that they are allowing the second most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season. Johnson should be around the 20 touch mark again this week, and that is highly favorable against this defense.
Phillip Dorsett – $5,400
GPP Projection: 15.4
Phillip Dorsett is one of my favorite dart throws this week in tournaments. He is very cheap, and gets a Redskins defense that is allowing the second most fantasy points per game to opposing WRs. Dorsett has seen solid volume over the last two weeks, which should continue for most of the year. At $5,400, he has some serious return value and offers up some salary relief. Josh Gordon is also in play here, but comes in about $1,000 more. The Patriots passing stack is very affordable.
Marquise Brown – $5,400
GPP Projection: 16.9
It has been a quiet past two weeks for Marquise Brown, but this is a great spot for him. He is dominating targets in Baltimore, and has the third most air yards in the league (507). Pittsburgh has allowed the 10th most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. I love the Lamar Jackson and Brown stack this week. The Steelers secondary was a big question mark coming into the season, and they have not looked great.
Greg Olsen – $5,700
GPP Projection: 16.7
Jacksonville has been middle of the road against tight ends so far this season, and rank 18th against the pass overall. Greg Olsen struggled last week, but is in a good rebound spot this week. Olsen has seen 11 targets over the last two weeks, and of course his big game came against the Cardinals, as other tight ends have this season. The Panthers receivers and Olsen should go overlooked this week. Jacksonville still holds some name value that will deplete the ownership on these names.
New England Patriots – $5,500
GPP Projection: 14.9
At this point we want the higher defensive ceiling, and that is the New England Patriots. They have scored 25, 14, 37, and 10 FD points so far this season. Of course the soft schedule helps, and their Week 5 opponent fits right in. Washington has a dreadful offensive line, and also have turned the ball over at a high rate. They are allowing the third most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses this season.
