FanDuel NFL Week 5 Tournament GPP Picks: Daily Fantasy Advice & Strategy
Contents
When playing in large-field tournaments you need to have a balance of players hitting their absolute ceiling for the week, whether that be with a stack of using a lineup of one-offs. Ownership is important but many tournaments have been won with having a few high owned players that go off that week. This article will bring you my favorite tournament plays stretched across a range of prices where I am looking at them hitting their peak. Some will carry some ownership just for the sake of being top plays while some will be lesser owned.
Quarterbacks
Lamar Jackson – $8,900 – Projection: 25.9
With Pat Mahomes and Dak Prescott up with Lamar Jackson, and him coming off an injury report that had him limited with knee and illness issues, this might be enough to scare people off Jackson. It is a terrific matchup against the Bengals defense that allowed Gardner Minshew to put up over 20 fantasy points last week. Jackson topped 30 points in the two games against Cincinnati last season.
Teddy Bridgewater – $7,100 – Projection: 19.5
From a points per dollar standpoint, Teddy Bridgewater fits in as a complete swerve from paying up for the top options. At $7,100 against the Atlanta defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Bridgewater is an excellent play. He has a multi-touchdown upside and this is a defense that allowed Nick Foles to throw 3 touchdowns in a half.
Running Backs
Josh Jacobs – $8,200 – Projection: 16.5
I like both running backs from this game, but Josh Jacobs will be the lower owned. Las Vegas has talked about getting Jacobs more involved, and they need to after losing the past few weeks. The Chiefs have allowed the 7th most rushing yards and 8th most receiving yards to opposing running backs this season. Jacobs is a sneaky pivot in this one.
Kareem Hunt – $7,000 – Projection: 17.2
Kareem Hunt will be highly owned and deservingly so. He is only $7,000 and gets a Colts defense that will be missing Darius Leonard and potentially a few other linebackers. With no Nick Chubb, there will be a few extra touches to go around and Hunt is a great option this week. While popular, he will be in most of my GPP lineups.
Wide Receivers
Darius Slayton – $5,800 – Projection: 13.2
For a sub-6K play, Darius Slayton stands out against the Cowboys who have allowed the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season. Four wide receivers have 100+ yard games and they have allowed three multi-touchdown games to wide receivers this season. Slayton has huge home run upside and is cheap exposure to this one.
DJ Moore – $6,600 – Projection: 15.1
DJ Moore has been disappointing given he was a fourth-round pick in season-long this season and only has 288 yards and no scores to show for it. He has averaged about eight targets a game through the first four games. He gets the Falcons this week, who are bottom ten in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers.
DJ Chark – $7,000 – Projection: 16.8
Houston’s defense has struggled this season and DJ Chark is at a solid price. They allowed two 100+ yard receivers last week and this game has one of the higher totals to target. Chark is sitting as WR23 in scoring despite missing a game due to injury. He is coming off his biggest week of the season, where he had an 8-95-2 line.
Tight Ends
George Kittle – $7,100 – Projection: 13.9
The Dolphins have only allowed 152 yards to tight ends this season, but have played Ryan Izzo, Tyler Eifert, Dawson Knox, and Greg Olsen. Now they have to face George Kittle, who looked more than healthy last week. At $7,100 this is a nice price tag and he is the pay-up option I want in a very good spot this week.
