Quarterbacks

There are a number of ways to go this week and all three of the top-priced quarterbacks are in tremendous spots. Patrick Mahomes gets the Jets and if the Chiefs really wanted to, he could air it out and throw for five scores. However, this one might be in the books very early and the ceiling could be a bit capped. Russell Wilson gets the 49ers this week and will be looking to have a turnover-free game after throwing three picks. While the 49ers defense hasn’t allowed much passing production, this is a different story. And of course, Aaron Rodgers is a safe bet against Minnesota, who have allowed 2.3 passing touchdowns per game and 286 passing yards per game on the season.

Joe Burrow and Ryan Tannehill should have a back and forth affair this week and both have been tremendous in fantasy. Burrow is doing it through high volume where Tannehill has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league for the last year. Both secondaries have struggled allowing over two passing touchdowns per game. Another potential quarterback duo could be Baker Mayfield and Derek Carr. Both the Raiders and the Browns have allowed over 20 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks on the season.

Running Backs

Derrick Henry is the highest priced back this week and it makes a ton of sense given the numbers are starting to pile up and he faces the Cincinnati Bengals. This is a great spot for him with the Titans being road favorites and a Bengals run defense we can target. Dalvin Cook is a nice GPP option given he is coming back from injury, the Vikings are touchdown dogs, and there are so many backs in good spots this week. The Packers run defense also hasn’t gotten much better. Alvin Kamara’s usage continues to make him a strong play and the Bears have allowed double-digit fantasy point games to running backs all but one this season. Kareem Hunt is a bit more expensive now but a strong option against a Raiders defense allowing 25.4 fantasy points per game to opposing backs.

The Chiefs backfield is now Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Le’Veon Bell. While I expect Bell to get his touches in unique ways, CEH should still be a 15+ touch guy, and this is a plus against the Jets offense. I like him as a pivot away from Jonathan Taylor in GPPs, who is in a great spot against the Lions. Jamaal Williams even with the price bump is a strong option if Aaron Jones is out again. There isn’t a lot of cheap options at running back this week, outside of D’Andre Swift in a GPP. The Rams backs are cheap but the usage continues to be frustrating for fantasy purposes.

Wide Receivers

Davante Adams is once again the premium pay up option, as he gets Minnesota and has dominated them in their history. If Aaron Jones is out again, Adams targets and production is going to be through the roof. Tyreek Hill isn’t going to be a cash game play for me but I will be sprinkling him in some tournament lineups against this Jets secondary. AJ Brown and Kenny Golladay are strong options this week and Golladay has put together a strong game log since coming back but hasn’t put together that monster performance just yet. The Seahawks wide receivers are of course in play and not much needs to be said about them at this point.

The Cincinnati Bengals receivers continue to be cheap and were prime targets last week. That is the case again for me this week with the Titans secondary allowing 1.5 touchdowns per game to receivers and 28.8 FD points per game. Boyd, Green, and Higgins all are worth a look. Marquise Brown is a sneaky cheap GPP pick going up against the Steelers, who have allowed 1.5 touchdowns per game to receivers. Brandon Aiyuk is in a smash spot against the Seahawks and a solid option. Corey Davis and Rashard Higgins are another few value options to help round out a lineup.

Tight Ends

It is somewhat of a top-heavy week at tight end if you want to go that route. Travis Kelce is obviously a strong play against the Jets with their 34 implied total and the Jets are allowing double-digit FanDuel points per game. George Kittle has never had a strong game against Seattle over the years but this is a different defense. They also haven’t played a strong core of tight ends so the fantasy points allowed numbers should look week. Darren Waller and Jonnu Smith are two names I like in the $6,000s. Cleveland and Cincinnati both have been below average against tight ends this season, and both Smith and Waller are heavily involved in the passing attacks. Jared Cook is a sneaky GPP option again, especially if Michael Thomas is out. Chicago has funneled down quite a bit to tight ends with their secondary this season. If you are looking for some cheaper value, Austin Hooper is out again this week and Harrison Bryant will fill back in.

Defense

Coming off a monster game from last week, the Chiefs have projected the most fantasy points again. Not a big surprise going up against the Jets. The Jets have an implied total of 15 and are bottom ten in fantasy points allowed to opposing defenses this season. This is a strong spot for the Chiefs. The Rams only come in $100 short of the Chiefs but are a nice GPP pivot facing the Dolphins. The Chargers defense is interesting even on the road against Denver as a 4 PM only defense but that it is about it. Denver obviously let up a big game to the Chiefs defense last week but there has been a few games this season they have really struggled. The Saints are also in the mix this week at $3,600 and are projected for 7.7 fantasy points. Miami is also a nice GPP defense facing a Rams offense that can be hit and miss at times and are traveling to Miami on a short season.
