Quarterbacks

This is looking like a week where I want to spend up on some of the top quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes is in a perceived tough matchup with Carolina limiting quarterbacks this season but Mahomes has a 30+ fantasy point ceiling and this is a spot where he should put up strong numbers again. Russell Wilson and Josh Allen are two strong options in the same game. Wilson of course has been a top fantasy quarterback but Allen gets the strong matchup. Seattle has allowed 25.4 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. The total sits at 55 in that game and should be one of the more high scoring games on the slate, and it also sits with plenty of stacking options. Kyler Murray’s rushing floor continues to make him a staple play. He has a floor of 25 fantasy points over his last eight games played.

If you are looking a bit cheaper, there are a few options I do like. Drew Lock at $7,200 projects for a solid bargain and gets a strong matchup against the Falcons, who are allowing 25.6 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. Derek Carr faces the Chargers who are allowing 22.5 FD points per game to quarterbacks. The plus side for the Raiders offense is that they won’t be facing hurricane winds like last week. Justin Herbert projects for over 20 points and is a strong afternoon quarterback to target.

Running Backs

Coming off of a monster week, Dalvin Cook is right back in play and is the top running back play. He is a home favorite and the Vikings have a 27.5 implied total. Detroit has allowed 1.7 rushing touchdowns per game and 27.2 fantasy points per game. While I won’t be pivoting away from Cook much this week, Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry are certainly worth a look for multiple lineups. James Conner is in a strong spot against the Dallas defense, who have allowed 138 yards per game on the ground and one rushing touchdown per game. Conner is a bit expensive for my liking, but this is a great spot for him.

James Robinson is in a great matchup against the Houston run defense that has allowed 151 yards per game on the ground this season and 1.4 rushing touchdowns per game. Robinson is a solid GPP play and borderline cash play, I just worry overall about this offense with a new quarterback. Chase Edmonds is the safer option in cash games and will be a popular value this week in all formats. The Dolphins are allowing 21 FD points per game to running backs and Edmonds has that full-time role this week.

Wide Receivers

There is a wide range of wide receivers, as usual, this week. A lot of the higher-priced options are in strong spots. Julio Jones could see a strong volume with Calvin Ridley likely out this week. Jones gets a Denver defense that isn’t quite what it used to be and has also allowed 1.14 receiving touchdowns to receivers this season. DeAndre Hopkins has a strong matchup with Maimi allowing 25.2 FD points per game. DK Metcalf will have to deal with Tre’Davius White this week but I still can’t rule him out. Tyler Lockett is the guy I am eying a bit more. In that same game, Stefon Diggs is an excellent play. Seattle has allowed a whopping 36.1 FD points per game to receivers. If John Brown is fully ready to roll, he is going to be a strong value as well.

Both Carolina receivers are fine in tournaments even though it is a tough matchup. It should be a favorable game script. Pittsburgh’s wideouts will be in play for tournaments but the volume has been up and down for everyone. With everybody healthy, I can’t see which receiver having that steady production for cash games. Jerry Jeudy is one of my favorite values this week. Atlanta has allowed 29.4 FD points per game on the season.

Tight Ends

This has not been a fun fantasy position this season. Generally, the top options like Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Mark Andrews have had their upside games, but the rest of the field has had an up and down year. Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews are still in play this week despite the tough matchups on paper. Darren Waller is a guy I really like this week. Las Vegas has a 25.5 implied total and this game has some shootout potential. Noah Fant is in a great spot against the Falcons, who have allowed one touchdown per game to tight ends and 12.7 FD points per game. The Denver stack is well in play this week. If Calvin Ridley misses this week, which seems likely, Hayden Hurst gets a slight bump. Jonnu Smith is also in a funnel down spot against the Bears, who have allowed 9 FD points per game to opposing tight ends.

Defense

There is really only one cash game option at defense this week and that is the Steelers. The Cowboys have a 14 implied total this week and face the best defense in the league in my opinion. They have a good pass rush that can get to this banged-up offensive line and factor in another change at quarterback, this team is a real mess right now. There are some pivots you can make if you are looking to go that route. Washington will face a turnover-prone Daniel Jones led offense. The offensive line play has been poor and Washington certainly has a pass-rush that can get to the quarterback. For cheaper routes, Tennessee, Houston, and the Arizona Cardinals are worth a look facing mediocre offenses or in the Cardinals case an inexperienced quarterback.
