FanDuel NFL Week 9 Tournament GPP Picks: Daily Fantasy Advice & Strategy
Contents
When playing in large-field tournaments you need to have a balance of players hitting their absolute ceiling for the week, whether that be with a stack of using a lineup of one-offs. Ownership is important but many tournaments have been won with having a few high owned players that go off that week. This article will bring you my favorite tournament plays stretched across a range of prices where I am looking at them hitting their peak. Some will carry some ownership just for the sake of being top plays while some will be lesser owned.
Quarterbacks
Josh Allen – $8,200 – Projection: 26.1
Josh Allen has had a couple of down games and the price has somewhat staggered. $8,200 is a great price for a back with the rushing upside and a 30.1 ceiling over the last eight games. Seattle has allowed 358.7 yards through the air per game, 1.89 passing touchdowns per game, and 25.4 fantasy points per game.
Drew Lock – $7,200 – Projection: 19.8
Drew Lock is a solid value quarterback this week as the position continues to put up big numbers against the Falcons defense. They have allowed 311 yards, 2.5 touchdowns, and 25.6 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Given Lock’s ceiling has been limited his GPP projection comes in a bit lower but this is a great spot and a value stack to target this week.
Running Backs
James Robinson – $7,300 – Projection: 18.5
James Robinson has posted 17.2 fantasy points per game this season and has been a top-40 fantasy player. He has rushed for 481 yards on the ground and while the Jaguars offense is in question because of Gardner Minshew being out, this is the perfect time to play Robinson in tournaments. Houston has allowed 151 rushing yard son the ground and 1.43 touchdowns to opposing backs this season. They have allowed 27.1 fantasy points per game to running backs on the year.
Antonio Gibson – $6,200 – Projection: 13.8
Antonio Gibson is a cheap RB2 option at $6,200 and while the touches vary from game to game he is a strong threat to put up strong numbers. The Giants have struggled to defend backs in the receiving game and that is a strength of Gibson. He has generally had 4-5 catches over the last few weeks and has been a touchdown machine. The game against Dallas was encouraging because he had 20 touches on the ground alone and thrashed a bad Dallas defense for 128 yards and a score.
Wide Receivers
Stefon Diggs – $7,600 – Projection: 15.8
Stefon Diggs is in one of the best matchups of the season and has been one of the elite fantasy wideouts this season. He gets a Seattle Seahawks defense that has allowed 270 receiving yards a game to receivers alone and 1.57 touchdowns per game. Overall wide receivers have averaged 36.1 fantasy points per game. Buffalo has a 26 implied total and the Bills stack is well in play against the Seahawks. The overall game stack potential here is strong.
Going with the Broncos stack this week, Jerry Jeudy is the Broncos WR1 and is coming off a double-digit target game. Jeudy hasn’t put together that big game just yet but some of his yardage totals just need that touchdown to get him to where we want to be. The matchup will help this week with the Falcons allowing 29.4 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers this season. At $5,700 he is also a great value.
Robby Anderson – $6,600 – Projection: 13.9
Carolina should be trailing this one and that puts Robby Anderson and DJ Moore in play for some garbage time points in the second half but overall Carolina’s offense has been centered around Anderson this season. The Chiefs have allowed just 17.6 fantasy points per game to receivers which is a number that should keep people off of the Panthers offense. However, Anderson has a strong target share and the Panthers should keep their foot on the gas.
Tight End
Mark Andrews – $6,600 – Projection: 11.9
The price tag on Mark Andrews has come down a bit and he sits at $6,600. Andrews has been up and down like the Ravens offense this season but he is a strong play this week against the Colts who have struggled against tight ends dating back to last season but the fantasy points allowed looks bleak in 2020 because of who they have faced. Andrews has that multi-touchdown upside you look for and I expect the Ravens to get back to their roots. I like the Jackson, Brown, and Andrews stack this week.
Defense
Baltimore Ravens – $4,500 – Projection: 8.6
The Steelers are really the top defense this week and highly recommend them in cash and tournaments. However, if you are looking to differ from the field, the Ravens get a Colts team led by a turnover-prone Philip Rivers. If this game goes as I expect with the Ravens being able to put up numbers on the offensive side it will force Rivers to have to throw the ball. They lack real solid skill position players in the passing game. Baltimore has one of the elite defenses in the league and the Colts are sitting with a modest 22.5 implied total that seems a bit much.
