Seattle (+6.5) vs San Francisco 49ers – 8:15 PM
The Seattle Seahawks (7-2) take on the San Francisco 49ers (8-0) on Monday Night Football. Seattle is coming off of a tough game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where they needed overtime to get the win. The 49ers are also coming off of a tough game in which they squeaked by the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football 28-25.
Traditionally a defensive team, the Seahawks are a completely different team this season. Seattle is now an offensive heavy team that can score on any team. Their defense is now their weak spot. The Seahawks are fifth in the league in total yards and in the top 10 in both passing and rushing. Seattle scores the seventh-most points per game in the NFL. The defense has struggled all season, 25th in total yards and 23rd in points allowed per game.
The 49ers have one of the best defensive units in the league. Their offense has been pretty solid all-around this season but anyone who watches the 49ers know that their offense is what needs to improve. San Francisco’s defense allows the least amount of passing and total yards per game. They also allow the second-fewest points in the entire NFL. While they are 3rd in total points scored per game, the offense isn’t all that great, mostly benefiting from the position their defense puts them in. San Francisco is a run-first team that is sixth in the league but their passing offense ranks just 22nd.
With MVP-favorite Russell Wilson, the Seahawks should be able to figure out this 49ers defense. I expect Wilson to make a lot of plays with his legs in this game. He should scramble out of the pocket a lot and avoid that 49ers pass rush. Making throws outside the pocket and running for first downs is how the Seahawks and Wilson win this game. The 49ers aren’t built to make big comebacks. Once ahead, the Seahawks should be able to keep the 49ers from retaking the league as they force Jimmy G and that offense to throw. Forcing the 49ers to throw is how you take this team down. I like the Seahawks to cover and I also like their moneyline as I expect them to win this game outright. Seattle +6.5 with a +210 moneyline is what I am taking.
