North Carolina vs Pittsburgh (-4) – 8:00 PM
The North Carolina Tar Heels (4-5) take on the Pitt Panthers (6-3). The Tar Heels are coming off of a 38-31 loss to Virginia back on November 2nd. UNC had a bye last week. The Panthers have won five of their last six games and took down Georgia Tech 20-10 in their last game. Pitt is also coming off of a bye.
North Carolina’s offense has been up and down this season. The Tar Heels rank 76th in points scored per game. They have a solid passing attack that ranks 31st and an average rushing attack ranking 63rd. Their defense has been slightly better, ranking 63rd in points allowed per game. UNC is 78th against the pass and 67th against the rush.
Pitt’s strength this season has been their defense. They rank 24th in points allowed per game. They have an excellent rush defense (7th) and a solid pass defense as well (28th). The Panther defense allows the fifth-fewest yards per play. Offensively, the Panthers have struggled. Pitt is 111th in points scored per game this season. Their passing attack has been decent (46th) but their rushing has not been (108th).
The weakness for this Tar Heels team is their pass defense. Pitt’s offense isn’t anything special but they can throw the ball well at times. The Panthers’ defense is one of the best all-around units in the country. I like Pitt to stop this mediocre Tar Heel offense. The Pitt passing attack should do enough to get them to win this game by more than four. They’re the better team and at home. Give me Panthers -4.
