New York’s December sports betting numbers have been released. The lack of mobile betting is clearly hindering sports betting revenue for New York casinos. del Lago Resort and Casino led the way in New York for December with just $335,283 in sports betting revenue. Rivers Casino and Resort was a close second at $311,828. Tioga Downs Casino ($68,071) and Resorts World Catskills ($65,236) were a distant third and fourth. All together, New York pulled in just $780,418 in sports betting revenue for December, a month where other states are expecting record numbers.

#17 Maryland vs Wisconsin (-3) – 9:00 PM

wisconsin badgersThe #17 Maryland Terrapins (13-3) take on the Wisconsin Badgers (10-6) tonight. The Terrapins are 3-3 in their last six games after a 10-0 start and are coming off of a loss to Iowa 67-49. The Badgers are 5-1 in their last six and they defeated Penn State 58-49 in their last contest.

After a hot start, Maryland has crashed back to earth. The Terps are a modest 134th in points per game (73.2). Despite their decent scoring average, they have shot the ball terribly this year. Maryland is 295th in FG% (41.4%), 292nd in 3PT% (30.7%) and 106th from the free-throw line (72.2%). Their defense has been a big part of their early season success. They are 37th in points allowed per game (61.7) and they have held their opponents to the 14th-lowest FG% in the country (37.3%).

Wisconsin isn’t the type of team to blow you away with their offense, but their defense is excellent. The Badgers are just 268th in points per game (67.9) but they are 20th in points allowed per game (60.2). They rank outside the Top 190 in both FG% and 3PT% but they are one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the country, hitting at 77.4% (11th).

In two of Maryland’s three losses, they scored fewer than 50 points. A tough defense will give the Terps a very hard time as they are not good shooters. A team like Wisconsin that likes low-scoring games and can hit their free-throws is not the type of team Maryland likes to play against. Wisconsin is one of the slowest-paced teams in the country. Look for the Badgers took take Maryland out of their comfort zone tonight with their excellent defense. Made free-throws will be the reason Wisconsin gets the cover in the end.
