Kansas vs Iowa State (+4.5) – 8:00 PM
The Kansas Jayhawks (11-2) take on the Iowa State Cyclones (7-6) tonight in Ames. Kansas enters the game on a two-game winning streak after defeating West Virginia 60-53. Iowa State is on a two-game losing streak after losing to TCU 79-81 in OT.
Kansas is 33rd in the country in scoring at 79.5 points per game. The Jayhawks are on of the best shooting teams in the country. They are 3rd in the country in FG% (50.9%) and 82nd in 3PT% (35.6%). The Kansas defense has done as well as the offense has. Kansas is 36th in the country in points allowed per game (61.6). They hold opponents to some of the lowest shooting percentages in the country, 37.3% from the field (16th) and 28.9% from three (42nd).
Iowa State has been an even better scoring team than Kansas. The Cyclones are 27th in the country in points per game (80.2). They have shot well from the field, hitting at 46.4% (70th) but have struggled from behind the arc (239th). As good as the Cyclone offense has been, their defense has really struggled. Iowa State is 232nd in points allowed per game (71.4) and their opponents have been lights out from the field (43.3%) and from three (36.2%).
Iowa State’s offense is a big enough threat that the Cyclones could pull off the upset even with their lackluster defense. The Cyclones are a tough team to beat at home in recent years, especially in conference games against big opponents. Both myself and the formula love the Cyclones to cover in this one and even a moneyline bet on Iowa State might be worth a shot. The formula has the Cyclones just barely losing this one at 72-73.
