Last week, an appeals court ruling declared that daily fantasy sports in New York are illegal, which could potentially hinder the state’s progress towards legal online sports betting. However, some supporters, including Senator Joseph Addabbo, believe the ruling has no bearing on mobile sports betting. Addabbo said in an interview on Saturday that the daily fantasy sports ruling has “no bearing” on the internet sports gambling matter because the two present “apples and oranges” legal issues.
Daily fantasy sports contests are still being operated in New York as the case heads to its final state court, the Court of Appeals.

#13 Penn State vs Purdue (-5) – 6:30 PM
The Penn State Nittany Lions (18-5) take on the Purdue Boilermakers (14-10) tonight on the Big Ten Network. Penn State has now won six straight games after taking down Minnesota 83-77. Purdue is on a three-game winning streak with their last win coming against Indiana 74-62.
Penn State has been having an excellent offensive season in terms of points. The Nittany Lions are 39th in points scored per game. However, they haven’t been having an excellent season in terms of shooting. Penn State is just 136th in FG%, 217th in 3PT% and 248th in FT%. On the defensive end, the Nittany Lions are 121st in points allowed per game. They hold opponents to the 25th fewest FG% in the country.
Purdue is an excellent defensive team that can sometimes struggle on offense. The Boilermakers are just 249th in the country in points scored per game. While they are a solid 78th in 3PT% they struggle from the field in total (236th) and from the line as well (302nd). Purdue is allowing the ninth fewest points per game in the country. They hold opponents to the 13th lowest 3PT% and 79th lowest FG%.
Despite their records, they are actually two fairly equal teams. They are both in the top 40 in adjusted offensive efficiency and top 20 in adjusted defensive efficiency according to KenPom. Purdue has had one of the toughest schedules while Penn State has had one of the easiest out of conference schedules before hitting Big Ten play. The biggest difference in this game will be the tempo and whoever controls that, has the advantage. Purdue is a slow-paced team that likes to limit possessions while Penn State is one of the 50 fastest-paced teams in the nation. I like Purdue to continue to play well and control the tempo at home in this game. The formula has the Boilermakers getting the win and the cover 71-63.
