Sports betting is set to being in Illinois in the coming weeks, but will one of the key aspects of it keep players betting on off-shore sites? Illinois will require bettors to register their online betting accounts at the designated casino before. This means customers won’t be able to just pick up their phone and start betting. For those who live further away from casinos, the prospect of starting, or continuing to bet at off-shore sites may be more appealing than having to travel hours to the casino and back, even just that one time.
In-person registration will be required for the first 18 months after legal sports betting is launched. Only time will tell how much the in-person registration process will limit Illinois revenue numbers.

Quinnipiac vs Fairfield (-2.5) – 7:00 PM
The Quinnipiac Bobcats (12-15) will take on the Fairfield Stags (11-16) in a MAAC contest. Quinnipiac is now 1-7 in its last eight games after losing to Siena 84-77 on Wednesday. Fairfield drops to 2-2 in its last four games after losing to Siena 62-59 on Sunday.
Quinnipiac has not been good on either side of the ball this season. The Bobcats are 217th in points scored per game and 260th in points allowed per game this season. While the Bobcats do have solid numbers from three (61st) and from the line (40th), their overall FG% has been bad (266th). Their defense has had trouble defending the three (320th) and they also rank 191st in overall FG% allowed.
Fairfield’s offense has been one of the worst in the country but their defense has been very good, at least in terms of points allowed. The Stags are the sixth-lowest scoring team in the country. They also have the 13th-lowest FG%, 23rd-lowest 3PT% and they are just 206th in FT%. Defensively, the Stags allow the 30th-fewest points per game this season. However, they rank just 161st in opponent FG% allowed and 256th in opponent 3PT%.
While this isn’t exactly a battle of two heavyweights, there is still some value here. Quinnipiac hasn’t covered the spread a single time in eight games while Fairfield is 16-11 ATS this season. Fairfield has had a tougher schedule than Quinnipiac, who has one of the easiest in the country this season. While their offense is among the worst in the country, the Fairfield defense and slow-tempo gives opponents like Quinnipiac trouble. Although the Bobcats won the earlier meeting this season by 14 points, I expect Fairfield to get revenge here on their home court. The formula likes the Stags here as it has them winning this one 67-61.
