The NFL is now hiring a vice president of sports betting. After years of avoiding the sports betting market (and even trying to prevent New Jersey from getting the PASPA ruling overturned), the NFL is now not only fully embracing sports betting but employing for it. Part of the job description includes protecting the integrity of the game and helping the NFL expand its sports betting platform.

Davidson vs VCU (-8.5) – 7:00 PM
The Davidson Wildcats (11-10) take on the VCU Rams (16-6) in an Atlantic-10 matchup. Davidson is coming off of an 85-50 blowout victory over Massachusetts. VCU saw their four-game winning streak end when they lost to Rhode Island 87-75 last week.
Davidson is a slightly above average offensive team that is 146th in points scored per game. The Wildcats are an excellent 3PT shooting team (57th) and an even better free-throw shooting team (34th). They are also 101st in FG%. Defensively the Wildcats are a solid team as well as they are 129th in points allowed per game. However, Davidson’s opponents have shot well from the field as the Wildcats are 186th in FG% allowed and 203rd in 3PT% allowed.
VCU’s offense is very similar to the Davidson offense. They are a decent scoring team that ranks 137th in points per game. They shoot better from three (76th) than they do from the field (169th). However, the Rams are not a very good free-throw shooting team as they rank 178th. The VCU defense is their strength and they are one of the better teams in the country, ranking 41st in points allowed per game. The Rams are 75th in FG% allowed and 146th in 3PT% allowed.
The Rams defense makes them a legit threat against any team. Davidson is above average on both sides of the ball but their offense is not as good as the VCU defense. Coming off of a lose to a very good Rhode Island team, the Rams will be looking to bounce back with a big win. VCU needs to win games like these to keep their tournament resume up. I like the Rams’ defense to shutdown the Davidson offense. Look for VCU to get the cover as the formula predicts them winning this one 71-60.
