Genius Sports Partners with the Philadelphia Eagles for New Sports Betting Activations

On Tuesday, Genius Sports Limited (NYSE: GENI) announced a new agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles. Genius Sports will provide real-time betting odds, league-wide scores, and individual player statistics at the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field. Pennsylvania launched online sports betting in May 2019 and is now the third-largest market in the country in terms of overall sports betting handle. As Pennsylvania’s sports betting market continues to flourish, the Philadelphia Eagles hope to be at the forefront of gambling with a new partnership with Genius Sports.
What Does the Partnership Entail?
In addition to access to various statistics at Lincoln Financial Field, Eagles fans will also be able to access special offers from the team’s sports betting partners through QR codes displayed on screens throughout the stadium. Genius Sports is the NFL’s exclusive distributor of real-time and play-by-play statistics and official sports betting data, and the proprietary Next Gen Stats. This data is critical as most states have established sports betting with an agreement that states sportsbooks must purchase official league data.
Catherine Carlson, Senior Vice President of Revenue and Strategy for the Eagles, said, “tapping into and utilizing Genius Sports’ cutting-edge technology at Lincoln Financial Field will contribute to the world-class experience that we always seek to provide our fans on game day.” As sports betting grows in popularity, NFL teams need to cater to their fans’ interests through enhanced experiences.
Why a Partnership with Genius Sports?
According to its website, Genius Sports is the “official data, technology, and commercial partner that powers the global ecosystem connecting sports, betting, and media.” Genius Sports has partnerships with 400 sports leagues and federations across 15 countries and 300 global sportsbook brands, including DraftKings, FanDuel, and many more. With exclusive access to NFL odds and statistics, Genius Sports is also at the forefront of the NFL betting industry.
Josh Linforth, Managing Director of Media and Engagement at Genius Sports, described how “providing new and innovative platforms for teams to engage with legalized sports betting” is a crucial part of the company’s partnership with the NFL and said Genius Sports is “very proud to be working with the Philadelphia Eagles.”
Philadelphia Eagles Existing Sports Betting Partnerships
The Eagles have already made significant moves to tap into the rapidly expanding sports betting industry and have existing partnerships with Fox Bet, DraftKings, and Unibet. All three platforms are expected to establish sports betting lounges at Lincoln Financial Field. The Fox Bet Lounge is now open and is a 4,000 square-foot premium lounge that can accommodate 400 guests. The DraftKings Field Club is a VIP experience with exclusive game-day access, including a sideline pen in the north endzone.
Pennsylvania law currently prohibits professional sports teams from having on-site sportsbooks, but that doesn’t mean teams can’t tap into the industry with new partnerships. The NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to partnerships with BetMGM, Caesars, and DraftKings; the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers have a collaboration with BetRivers; the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers are partnered with BetMGM. Those other professional teams also have established sports betting lounges on-site with great success.
