Giannis Antetokounmpo Next-Team Odds: Bucks Favored, Hawks Lurking

NameOdds
Milwaukee Bucks-900
Atlanta Hawks+600
Toronto Raptors+1000
New York Knicks+2000
San Antonio Spurs+2500
Golden State Warriors+3000
Miami Heat+3500
Dallas Mavericks+3500
Houston Rockets+5000

Earlier this month, Antetokounmpo expressed his commitment to his current team in an interview with Brazilian media, saying, “I hope to be back soon with the Bucks.” The betting market reflects this notion, with Milwaukee atop the board as a hefty -900 odds-on favorite.

On The Bill Simmons Show, Bucks coach Doc Rivers stated that the rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo are “ridiculous,” doubling down on Milwaukee’s attempt to retain the two-time regular-season MVP for the remainder of his career.

However, the betting market hasn’t ruled out Milwaukee trading its franchise player. Enter the Atlanta Hawks, priced at +3000 among Giannis Antetokounmpo odds until Monday, when they dipped to +600.

Atlanta may have the most attractive trade package, assuming 2024 No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher, Jalen Johnson, and rookie Asa Newell are all on the table. In a wide-open Eastern Conference, Antetokounmpo and fellow star Trae Young could catapult the Hawks near the top of the standings.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Star has reported “mutual interest” between Antetokounmpo and the Toronto Raptors (+1000). ESPN noted that the Raptors are “looking for a big fish” this offseason.

Toronto possesses enough assets, such as RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and 2025 first-rounder Collin Murray-Boyles, to make a push for the nine-time All-Star.

Which NBA Title Contender Could Emerge?

Another possible destination is Madison Square Garden, with the New York Knicks (+2000) behind the Hawks, Raptors, and Bucks among Antetokounmpo’s next-team odds. Using implied probability, the Knicks have a 4.8% chance of acquiring Antetokounmpo, who has spent the last 12 seasons in Milwaukee.

After falling two wins short of the organization’s first NBA Finals appearance since 1999, New York should have plenty of interest in pairing Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, and Mikal Bridges with Antetokounmpo. However, the Knicks would likely need to part ways with Karl-Anthony Towns, Tyler Kolek, the Wizards’ 2026 protected first-round draft pick, and a potential pick swap.

Antetokounmpo’s Potential Impact On NBA Finals Odds

New York is tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third-best odds (+850) of emerging as NBA champions, lined behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets. If the Knicks somehow manage to reel in Antetokounmpo, their odds would shorten considerably.

The same goes for the Hawks (+5500) and Raptors (+25000). In fact, Atlanta already ranks among the early offseason winners, tipping off its roster reconstruction by obtaining rim-protecting stretch five Kristaps Porzingis in a three-team deal with the Celtics and Nets before signing sharpshooters Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard.

If Antetokounmpo stays put and the Bucks are quiet in free agency outside of signing center Myles Turner, they should remain in the +4000 territory. Even though they waived point guard Damian Lillard (torn Achilles) in a stunning twist to gain cap space for Turner, the decision was deemed as a net positive for their betting outlook, adjusting them down from +6000.
