Giants-Diamondbacks Same-Game Parlay Predictions: Bet On Road Favorite?
My favorite play is on the Giants’ moneyline odds. Following their extra-inning win on Wednesday, I believe now is the time to buy low on Bob Melvin’s club after suffering seven losses in their past eight affairs.
According to BaseRuns standings, a formula assembled by FanGraphs to project how many runs a team is expected to score (or give up) with their underlying offensive (or defensive) metrics in mind, San Francisco still touts the 12th-best mark across MLB. It’s right on par with its 46-41 record.
Sure, the Giants have accumulated a wRC+ of 88 versus right-handed arms since acquiring slugger Rafael Devers, ranking ninth-worst across baseball. However, their full body of work proves that these struggles are more likely the byproduct of a slump than regression to the mean.
The market agrees, at least in the short term, as they were promptly bet up from their opening -110 moneyline odds. The current number is a bit short for my money, especially up against righty Brandon Pfaadt, who has allowed a bevy of hard contact to go along with a 6.80 xERA.
Conversely, southpaw Robbie Ray has shown glimpses of his 2021 Cy Young form. Not only does Ray’s 2.91 xERA rank in the 87th percentile, but opponents are hitting just .207 (.208 xBA) against him.
I expect Ray’s stuff to shine versus his former team, which grades worse against left-handed pitching.
MLB Same-Game Parlay: Expert Picks
As for a potential same-game parlay, I recommend pairing San Francisco on the moneyline with Ray to go over his 17.5 “outs recorded” prop. These SGP odds are currently set at +162 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Given the likely variance involved in hitting a two-for-one bet, I generally recommend wagering pizza money on SGPs.
