Green Bay Packers Vs. Washington Commanders Player Prop Picks
The 3-3 Packers will try to rebound from a two game losing streak versus a 2-4 Commanders team who have looked average at best this season. The Commanders have extra rest coming off of a Thursday game while the Packers go to D.C. for their first official road game since week 3. Let’s take a look at a couple passing and receiving prop bet totals for this matchup.
Terry McLaurin Over/Under 52.5 Receiving Yards
Washington’s most consistent and star receiver Terry McLaurin has struggled to put up WR1 numbers despite his all star talent and abilities. A lot of this falls on inconsistent quarterback and offensive play he’s faced his whole career. Though McLaurin typically makes a few excellent plays or out of this world catches each game, he’s only averaging 61 receiving yards per game. While it feels a little risky to expect McLaurin to clear 53 receiving yards with a quarterback change and against the Packers star CB duo in Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes, I predict McLaurin will just make the over on his receiving total.
Taylor Heinicke Over/Under 223.5 Passing Yards
QB Taylor Heinicke makes his first start of the season versus the stingy Packers #1 pass defense. After starting QB Carson’s Wentz’s injury, Heinicke gets the opportunity to fill in, but unfortunately has to do so against the league’s best pass defense. In his one season as a regular starting quarterback in 2021, Heinicke only averaged about 213 passing yards per game. With the combination of Heinicke lacking starting practicing reps and facing a tough defense in his first start since last January, I anticipate for Heinicke to stay under his project total.
Robert Tonyan Over/Under 33.5 Receiving Yards
I’m going to take Packers tight end to put up at least 34 yards against the Commanders. Packers TE Robert Tonyan comes off a career game versus the Jets where he went for 90 yards on ten receptions. Though this performance could potentially be a fluke, especially since his previous season high receiving total was only 37 yards, I’m predicting he will build off his last game. In the Jets game, Tonyan showed he can be a more reliable weapon for Rodgers and the Packers, who desperately need all the offensive threats they can get. This should create more opportunities for Tonyan in the pass game this week and to put up 34 receiving yards.
Aaron Rodger Over/Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (Optional)
I definitely see Aaron Rodgers throwing for at least two touchdowns versus the Commanders. Rodgers has scored two touchdowns in 4/6 games this year, so picking the over is a natural expectation. The Commanders defense and pass defense is also nothing to write home about and ranks in the middle of the league, so Rodgers should take advantage of an easier matchup. Coming off two straight losses versus teams he was expected to beat, Rodgers should have extra motivation to prove he still has what it takes to play well and carry his team like he has done many years in the past.
