Home Run Bets: How To Sign Up For King Of The Diamond

Just opt in to the home runs bets promotion and receive your “King of the Diamond” token. Users must place two to five home run bets into a single parlay. If the player you bet on hits a home run and is on the highest-scoring team of the day across all Friday MLB games, you’ll earn your share of $1 million in bonus bets.

Whether your full parlay of home run bets wins or loses, as long as one of the players you pick delivers a dinger on the team with the most runs across tonight’s slate, then you’ll take home an even share of the $1 million bonus. Earlier this week, DraftKings ushered in the biggest King of the Diamond winner yet, with Cardinals catcher Pedro Pages hitting the lone home run in their 11-4 victory over the Tigers, returning $83,000 in bonuses to 12 lucky winners.

Identifying Valuable Home Run Odds

While home runs are a volatile betting market, pitchers’ HR/FB rates are always a key resource. Some have a knack for suppressing or allowing more home runs than the league average. They may surrender too many fly balls, leading to more dingers (hopefully tonight).

They may also benefit from a lucky stretch, which is part of the premise with FIP and xERA. Outfield winds and humid temperatures cause balls to travel further than normal, increasing the probability of homers.

On the flip side, cold weather and infield winds will kill the flight of fly balls.

Without further ado, let’s inspect a pair of contenders for your home run bets on Friday, May 23.

Potential Home Runs Bets For Friday, May 23

Reds DH Austin Hays:

Speaking of pitchers due for a setback, Cubs southpaw Matthew Boyd has outperformed his peripherals, producing a 2.98 ERA despite a 3.84 FIP. His 11.8% HR/FB rate is below-average among qualified starting pitchers.

Great American Ball Park presents the third-highest rating in Statcast’s park factor, used to illustrate the impact of ballparks on HR-type distances. Hays only has 95 plate appearances to his name this year after suffering a left hamstring strain, so his barrel rate doesn’t qualify just yet. Nevertheless, he’s tallied six dingers and makes for an intriguing pick to go yard, assuming you buy into Boyd’s potential regression versus Hays and the Reds’ inconsistent lineup.

Pirates OF Bryan Reynolds:

Like Boyd, Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta has exceeded his peripherals by more than a full run. Granted, PNC Park is below average in Statcast’s park factor. Couple that with the Pirates ranking dead last in runs per game, and their switch-hitter won’t be a trendy pick for the King of the Diamond offer. But as popular as the Aaron Judges of the world are, they’re unlikely to help cash in on this promo as often as you’d think. More often than not, the lesser-known commodities, such as Pages, are worth considering instead.

Reynolds has accumulated a .210 batting average with six homers, yet his .265 BABIP demonstrates that finer results are on deck. He’s one of the plug-your-nose options for tonight’s King of the Diamond promo.
