Houston Texans Vs. New York Giants Player Prop Picks
Fresh off their bye week, the 6-2 Giants will be fired up to host a Texans team ripe for the picking. Before the season, nobody expected New York to be competing for a playoff berth, but Brian Daboll has done a fantastic job in his first year as head coach. I’ll be excited to see what he’s cooking up on the offensive end off the bye week.
In this article, I’ll break down the top player props to target for this game. You can use the Texans vs. Giants player prop search tool above to compare odds from different sportsbooks. Let’s get to work.
Saquon Barkley Longest Rush Over 18.5 Yards (-115 DraftKings)
Nobody has been happier about Brian Daboll’s arrival in New York than Saquon Barkley as he’s helped revitalize the elite running back’s career. This matchup couldn’t be better for Barkley as the Texans rank 32nd in run defense DVOA and 32nd in rushing success rate allowed.
While Barkley’s total rushing yardage prop is certainly worth a look, I’m taking a slightly different avenue here. Per TruMedia, the Texans are allowing opposing running backs to gain 3+ yards before contact on 31% of their carries, which is the highest rate in the league.
When Barkley is given that runway of 3+ yards before contact, he’s been able to gain 15+ yards on 18% of his carries per Sharp Football. While Barkley has only gone over this number in one of his last three games, I expect him to break a few long runs this week given the matchup.
Dameon Pierce Over 77.5 Rushing Yards (-115 BetMGM)
Line shopping is absolutely crucial in player prop betting, and it’s why I love our search tool so much. Simply by typing Dameon Pierce’s name in above, you can see that DraftKings (-130) and Caesars (-143) are offering heavily juiced versions of this prop, while BetMGM has it much closer to even money.
Pierce has been an absolute wagon this season despite playing in an obvious one-dimensional offense. He’s averaging 96 rushing yards over his last six games, and he now ranks third in yards after contact behind only Nick Chubb and Derrick Henry.
I hate playing juiced lines in general, but particularly on player props. However, if you can get this line from BetMGM, it’s a smash play for me. The Giants rank just 24th in run defense DVOA and are allowing the second-most yards per carry this season.
Davis Mills Over 2.5 Rushing Yards (-120 Caesars)
There’s nothing in this game that’s nearly as appetizing as the Barkley and Pierce props, but this Davis Mills prop caught my eye. Mills obviously isn’t known as a mobile quarterback, but he’s gone over this line in two straight games with 26 total rushing yards over that span.
The Giants blitz opposing quarterbacks at the highest rate in the NFL, and with Mills likely under constant pressure, we could see him take off and run more often in this game. As a result of that blitz-heavy scheme, New York has allowed six of their eight opposing quarterbacks to surpass this rushing yardage number.
That includes Geno Smith (26 yards), Trevor Lawrence (3 yards), Baker Mayfield (35 yards), and Ryan Tannehill (7 yards), none of whom are particularly great rushing quarterbacks. Mills should be able to beat this number with just one scramble.
