Indiana Online Casinos: Guide To Legalization & Projected Casino Apps

After the legalization of online sports betting in Indiana, there have been questions asked about online casino games coming to the Hoosier State. 2021 is looking like the year those in Indiana will have online casinos. Indiana is not new to the casino scene, with retail casinos in the state for the last few decades. With hopes of online casinos becoming legal and operating in 2021, here are some of the top projected online casinos to enter the state and some additional news on the current bill.

Currently, there is a bull in place from Sen. Jon Ford that would allow online casinos and online poker in Indiana. Sen. Chris Garten and Sen. Ronald Grooms were also authors of SB417. These would be the establishments allowed to conduct online gaming — licensed owner of a riverboat, permit holder of racetracks, as well as land-based casinos.

Casinos and operators would need to pay $500,000 for interactive gaming licenses, which then is renewable each year for $50,000. Every casino can partner up to three online brands, who pay $100,000 for each license and renew each year for $25,000. Any revenue from internet gaming will be taxed at 18% and 3% for local governments. 3% of the state tax on revenue will go to an Addiction Services Fund.

What Online Casinos Would Look Like In Indiana

Based on a few other states that have online casinos, we would see similar regulations. There is generally a committee or group that oversees online casinos and is able to regulate responsible gaming policy and fairness. With so many brick-and-mortar casinos already within the state, any partnership would allow you to operate under a singular account between the land-based casino and the online casino.

We already see casinos in other states have multiple licenses, which some would be approved for multiple in Indiana. When they begin to launch, new users will be able to take advantage of promo offerings, like deposit bonuses and bonus bets. In a competitive market, the promos should be rather attractive.

Online poker has had a rocky history in the United States, but things are beginning to change. There are plenty of poker rooms open in land-based casinos, but online poker is still in question. Pennsylvania has recently legalized online poker, and it has opened up more revenue for the state. Back in January, online poker was introduced within the bill but could be more unlikely to be included within 2021 due to the extended regulations that need to be put in place.
