Jonathan Taylor Over 98.5 Rushing Yards
Jonathan Taylor established himself, last year, as the most consistent running back in the NFL. I expect him to be no different this year. A great way for him to get started is to set the tone against a Texans team that should be better than it was last year, but still is going to struggle. Taylor could be in the running for the MVP award again this year, and this would be a great way for him to start that campaign. Lovie Smith is a defensive minded coach, so I wouldn’t be surprised for the Texans to key in on him, but I think it’s going to be too little too late for them and I expect Taylor to get over even 100 yards by the end of the game. Taylor is the most consistent running back in the NFL, don’t overthink it.
Brandin Cooks Over 60.5 Receiving Yards
Davis Mills still gets the nod as the starting quarterback for the Texans, after being thrust into the spot after all the drama surrounding Deshaun Watson. The Houston offense isn’t going to be amazing this year and could struggle a biy just with the lack of playmakers. The biggest playmaker they have is Brandin Cooks at wide receiver. I expect Mills to find Cooks early and often to try and get him involved in the game against a very good Indianapolis defense. Cooks is easily the best receiver the Texans have so if the targets are there, then the yards should follow. Cooks has had a bit of an inconsistent career, but I think he’s in for a very good year this year and I think it starts against the Colts in a very good first game of the year.
Davis Mills Over 0.5 Interceptions
I don’t want to pick on Davis Mills because I actually think he’s not a bad quarterback by any means, but I’m taking this bet because the Colts have a very good defense. Their defense is lead by one of the best linebackers in the NFL, Shaquille Leonard, and DeForest Buckner on the end. I love the Colts defense this year, and I think they are going to get off to a great start against a Texans offense that’s full of questions. I think Mills could end up forcing a few throws especially because this offense doesn’t have many weapons available for him to utilize. Mills is a wild card though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s improved from last year. Betting on someone to turn the ball over seems like a risky bet, but take the Colts defense here to make a play or two because of how good it is.
