Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Football Team Player Props (10/17/21)
Contents
If you told me the Kansas City Chiefs would be 2-3 at some point this year, I definitely wouldn’t have believed you. The team’s seemed to be nearly untouchable since QB Patrick Mahomes took the reins in 2018. However, a mixture of bad defense and uncharacteristic poor choices has given them a losing record this far into the season. The Washington Football Team, while not having quite as high of expectations, has also had a disappointing season thus far. The team is 2-3 and well behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, with their only wins coming against weaker teams like the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants. The two teams meet up this Sunday, so let’s take a deeper look at the player props.

Patrick Mahomes Under 311.5 Passing Yards
A lot of casual bettors will probably bet the over on Patrick Mahomes passing yards every week. However, I’d pump the brakes on that, at least for now. The passer is in a bit of a rut right now, turning the ball over and not seeming like himself in recent games. He hasn’t gone over 300 yards since the Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Now, the Washington Football Team doesn’t have the best defense in the world (they arguably have one of the worst right now), but Mahomes won’t need to chuck it every play in this matchup.
Taylor Heinicke Over 267.5 Passing Yards
Although his performances have been all over the place, Taylor Heinicke has done a good job taking over for injured QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The quarterback has had low points (two picks last week against the New Orleans Saints) and high points (390 yards and three scores against the Atlanta Falcons), but when he’s on, he can light up opposing defenses. He’s facing a Kansas City Chiefs pass defense that has all the strength of a damp paper towel. The Chiefs are allowing 296.5 passing yards per game and missed out on acquiring Stephon Gillmore. The Football Team will need to air it out to keep up with the Chiefs, and I could see Heinicke surpassing 300 yards.
Darrel Williams Over 3.5 Receptions
This one’s pretty simple. Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is currently out with a knee injury suffered against the Buffalo Bills. Darrel Williams will be starting in place of Edwards-Helaire, and I have a feeling Mahomes will rely on him in the passing game. In limited action last week, Mahomes connected with Williams three times. He also averaged two catches in the couple of games before Edwards-Helair went down, so I’m expecting him to get some looks against Washington.
Travis Kelce Longest Reception Under 23.5 Yards
Tight end Travis Kelce has disappointed Chiefs fans (and fantasy owners) the past few weeks. He’s averaging just 40 yards per game the last two matchups, and took a major hit against the Bills that I think will slow him down a bit. Kelce hasn’t been amassing big catches, with only 10-yard and 15-yard hauls highlighting the last few games.
