Will Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns Play In Game 5?
With the Knicks on the brink of elimination, there’s uncertainty regarding Towns’ status after banging his knee twice during the Knicks’ 130-121 loss in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals. With 2:11 left in the fourth quarter, Towns banged knees with Indiana Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith and immediately grabbed his left knee. After remaining down on the court for a short period, he limited back into the game and was hobbled for the rest of the contest.
On Thursday afternoon, Towns was listed as questionable on the official injury report with a left knee contusion.
In his postgame press conference, Towns was asked about the injury and said, “I’m only thinking about this loss, I’m not thinking about that right now.” Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau added that Towns will undergo an evaluation ahead of Game 5.
Last season, the 7-foot, 248-pound center suffered a torn left meniscus that sidelined him for a month before he was reinserted into the lineup for the playoffs. It’s unknown whether Towns’ latest injury is related.

Do Betting Odds Reflect Concern About Karl-Anthony Towns’ Injury?
Trailing 3-1 in the series after Tuesday’s loss, the Knicks are currently spread favorites and on the moneyline for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden. New York opened as a five-point favorite at most operators, so the betting market has shown some uneasiness toward his knee injury. Expect an immediate shift if any additional news breaks over the next 24 hours.
Towns has averaged 25.8 points and 11.5 rebounds during the Eastern Conference finals. Only 13 teams in NBA postseason history have ever overcome a 3-1 deficit to win the series, so the Knicks can ill afford any setbacks with Towns.
