NFL Week 14 Line Movement
Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers: San Francisco 49ers -3 (-112) on BetRivers
- For the second straight week, the 49ers have seen the biggest shift to the point spread for their game after they suffered another blowout loss with key injuries. Christian McCaffrey (PCL) could be done for the season with San Francisco’s playoff hopes in doubt, and he’s likely to miss Week 14. Nick Bosa, Trent Williams, Demmodore Lenior, and Dre Greenlaw were unable to suit up at Buffalo in Week 13 and will be questionable at best for this Week 14 home game. With the Bears coming off a spirited second-half effort in Detroit on Thanksgiving, the spread has shifted from the 49ers (-6.5) as heavy favorites to -3.5 or -4.5 depending on the book. One sportsbook is still hanging a -5.5 in favor of the Niners on Monday morning.
Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions: Detroit Lions -3.5 (-117) on BetRivers
- While the Lions won their 10th straight on Thanksgiving, a shaky second half allowed the Bears to nearly tie the game, and the Packers handled the visiting Dolphins thoroughly in the nightcap. Those results have led to enough action that the spread has shifted from Lions -5.5 to -3.5 across the industry in a Thursday Night Football matchup between the NFC North contenders. The Lions have the best overall record against the spread (21-8) since the start of last season but are 5-4 against the spread in divisional games.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans: Tennessee Titans -3 (-114) on BetRivers
- Trevor Lawrence returned from a shoulder injury in Week 13 only to suffer a scary concussion on a cheap shot from Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Mac Jones will likely be under center for Jacksonville the rest of the way, and that development has led to this spread shifting across a key number from 2.5 to 3.5 points in favor of the host Titans. The total has also moved considerably, from 39 to 43 points, after the Tennessee defense coughed up 42 points in Week 13 at Washington.
New Orleans Saints at New York Giants: New Orleans Saints -5.5 (-110) on BetRivers
- The Giants gained some steam ahead of a Thanksgiving matchup at Dallas, moving from +4.5 to +3.5 across the sports betting industry, but Drew Lock threw a costly pick six, and the Cowboys wound up covering in a 27-20 win. Now the Giants have shifted from +3.5 to +4.5 or +5 at some books ahead of a Week 14 home game against the new-look Saints. The Saints are 2-1 straight up and against the spread under interim coach Darren Rizzi and are coming off a competitive loss to the Rams, but they could be without Taysom Hill (knee) for the foreseeable future.
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs: Kansas City Chiefs -1.5 (-110) on BetRivers
- The Chiefs pulled out yet another close win without covering when they held off the Raiders 19-17 on Black Friday. While the Chargers’ offense was unimpressive in a 17-13 win at Atlanta, the Bolts have picked up some steam, moving from +4.5 on the look-ahead line to +3.5 at most books ahead of a big Sunday Night Football game at Arrowhead. The Chiefs opened as 6.5-point favorites on the preseason line for this game but have failed to cover in six straight games and are now 1-3 against the spread in division games this season.
Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles: Philadelphia Eagles -13.5 (-118) on FanDuel
- The Panthers have covered in four straight games since Bryce Young returned to his starting role, and they’ve generated a bit of line movement in this tough road spot, shifting down from +13 to +12.5 or +12 at most books. The Eagles have been very impressive during an eight-game winning streak, with six covers over their past seven games.
Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys: Cincinnati Bengals -3.5 (-112) on BetRivers
- This Monday Night Football game has seen significant movement to the total, with the Bengals (-6) still favored by nearly a touchdown on the road. The total is up from 45.5 on the look-ahead line to 49.5 after the Bengals gave up 44 points in a shootout loss to the Steelers. Cincinnati is 9-2 to the over in its last 11 games, with its last five contests averaging 66.2 points per game. After dropping their first two games with Cooper Rush under center, the Cowboys scored 34 and 27 points in wins over NFC East rivals.
