If there was an NFL award for “team with a promising start that slowly devolved into a dumpster fire”, the Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders would have to be near the top of the list. Despite both teams starting 3-1, each has found themselves battling their own bouts of controversy off the field as much as their opponents on the field. Whether it be John Gruden, Henry Ruggs, Odell Beckham Jr’s dad, or COVID-19, the noise has often superseded the play. Regardless, both teams are still in the playoff hunt and this weekend is a perfect spot for one of these teams to get some positive momentum going. The COVID-19 situation for the Browns certainly places some uncertainty on how to evaluate this one, though that uncertainty itself may be the perfect indicator to bet against them.
As a quick note, Player Props for this one have been relatively hard to come by due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation around the Browns camp.

Hunter Renfrow Under 76.5 Receiving Yards
Though Hunter Renfrow has averaged over 100 yards receiving in his last three games, he’s averaging only 67 on the season and is due for a regression to the mean soon. The Browns have the seventh best yards per game passing defense in the NFL and will only be missing one member of their defensive backfield due to COVID-19. Each of the secondaries Renfrow faced during his three game tear ranked in the bottom 11 in the NFL in receiving yards allowed, with two of the three ranking in the bottom five. With the Browns playing at home, look for cornerback trio of Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome, and Troy Hill to give him problems. I expect him to look a lot more like the receiver who came into week 12 averaging just 52 receiving yards a game.
Josh Jacobs Under 57 Rushing Yards
Josh Jacobs has only rushed for more than 57 yards twice this season — once against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving and once against the Giants on November 7th. The Browns have a better front seven than both of those teams, and have had relative success forcing fumbles over the last 4 weeks. Jacobs has struggled against both AFC North opponents he’s faced this season and could very easily see less than 15 carries. This Browns defense is too good to bet the over on a number that already sits 11 yards above Jacobs’ season average.
Derek Carr Over 261 Passing Yards
Only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers average more passing yards per game than the Las Vegas Raiders. Over the last five games, Derek Carr is averaging 272 yards a game through the air and has thrown for over 320 yards six times. While the Browns secondary will be one of the better units he’s faced in awhile, the absence of John Johnson at safety will certainly open up some big play opportunities. Look for DeSean Jackson and Zay Jones to have big games with lots of attention being paid to Hunter Renfrow.
