Maryland Sports Betting Time Revealed: Place Your Wagers At 9AM EST!

Maryland sports bettors have been eagerly awaiting to conveniently place online bets from smart devices. Maryland retail sports betting has been available since December of 2021, with local in-person sportsbooks featured at locations like Hollywood Casino Perryville, Riverboat on the Potomac, Live! Casino & Hotel, and MGM National Harbor.

The past few weeks, though, the buildup for online sports betting has begun to ramp up as the news broke that the state’s mobile betting market would become available the day before Thanksgiving. Now that we know the exact time Maryland sports betting will be available, let’s take a look at all the essential details.

Maryland Sports Betting Launches Wednesday At 9am EST!

On Wednesday, November 23rd 2022, the online Maryland sports betting market will officially go live. While we’ve known that date in particular for a little over a week now, the exact timing wasn’t apparent for the rollout of mobile betting in the Old Line State. Well, we now know that Maryland sports wagering will be fully available at 9 a.m. EST on Wednesday.

So, as soon as the clock hits 9:00 local time, sports fans will be able to start placing wagers. Interestingly, we now know the exact launch time for the next two sports betting markets, with the Ohio sports betting market being available right at midnight on New Year’s Day 2023.

What Can Maryland Sports Bettors Wager On?

Since we know when Maryland sports fans will be able to legally place bets from their smartphones, what will be some of the big events to wager on? Sports bettors will actually have a major live event going on as soon as the betting market goes live, with a World Cup matchup between Germany and Japan. There are also a few other World Cup matchups scheduled throughout the day. The NBA slate is completely stacked for Wednesday, with 13 different matchups throughout the evening. This is also the case in the NHL, with 15 games scheduled on Wednesday, meaning almost every single team in the league will be playing.

And then there’s Thanksgiving Day the day after launch, which is massive for pro football fans. Maryland sports bettors will get to place wagers on the big games of the day, with the Buffalo Bills taking on the Detroit Lions to start off the morning. Then, we get an NFC East showdown as the Dallas Cowboys face the New York Giants and then close out the day with the New England Patriots battling the Minnesota Vikings. Add in plenty of college football throughout the weekend and online sports betting is available at an ideal time in the state of Maryland.

What Online Sportsbooks Are Coming To Maryland?

Since sports wagering will be 100% live tomorrow morning, potential bettors in the state will have some excellent options when it comes to picking a new sports betting app. Two of the top names in sports betting that originated as daily fantasy sports apps are fully expected to be available right at launch with DraftKings Sportsbook Maryland and FanDuel Sportsbook Maryland. Plus, the Caesars Entertainment wagering platform Caesars Sportsbook, Rush Street Interactive sportsbook app BetRivers Sportsbook, and MGM Resorts International betting site BetMGM Sportsbook are all expected to be popular with sports bettors in the state. The same goes for PointsBet Sportsbook, the unique betting app that offers the “Pointsbetting” feature for bigger potential payouts.
