Mets-Brewers SGP Predictions: Bet On Home Favorite?
Right-hander Clay Holmes, formerly a reliever for the rival Yankees, takes the mound for the Mets. He owns a 2.97 ERA and 4.19 FIP in 16 starts. Conversely, Brewers veteran Freddy Peralta is coming off consecutive outings of five-inning, three-run ball versus the Pirates and Cubs.
Peralta’s stuff is highly effective, but he’s surrendered a 9.7% barrel rate, grading in the 30th percentile. Although the betting odds already give New York an edge to emerge victorious, I believe the number is still a bit short.
Holmes has managed to outpitch his peripherals, in large part thanks to a 53.9% ground-ball rate, which ranks seventh-highest among qualified starters.
The 32-year-old has reverted to leaning heavily on his sinker in recent games, possibly correlating with some wear and tear in his first run as a full-time starter. However, this uptick should benefit him against the Brewers, tallying the fifth-worst run value (-0.80) against sinkers.
To boot, Milwaukee’s lineup is prone to hitting the ball on the ground, benefiting Holmes and the Mets’ well-rested bullpen.
This matchup is also a buy-low opportunity on New York’s bats, ranking dead last in wRC+ against righties during the last two weeks.
MLB Same-Game Parlay Picks
My favorite play is on the Mets’ moneyline odds, as I expect them to rebound after losing three straight and 13 of their last 16 games overall.
Regarding a potential same-game parlay, I recommend pairing it with Peralta to deliver five or fewer punch-outs. These SGP odds are +180 at bet365 Sportsbook. Given the likely variance involved in hitting a two-for-one bet, I generally recommend wagering pizza money on SGPs.
