Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions Player Prop Picks
Oddsmakers and bettors are expecting some fireworks when the Detroit Lions (1-5) host the Miami Dolphins (4-3) on Sunday, October 30. This matchup has the highest over/under on the week eight slate at 51.5, and approximately 70% of the public money is being bet on the over. It’s no surprise that this game is expected to be a shootout, as there are several exciting offensive playmakers from both teams in this game, which means there are plenty of good options for making prop bets.
Let’s take a look at the player prop bets I like the most in this Dolphins vs. Lions matchup.
Tyreek Hill over 84.5 receiving yards (-130)
It seems like every other week, the Cheetah just absolutely goes OFF. No really, he has gone for at least 160 yards in weeks two, four, and six. This week is week eight, so he is a virtual lock for over 150 yards. Do you need any other reason to bet his over this week?
In all seriousness, Hill has a very favorable matchup and opportunity in this game. The Lions pass defense has been in the bottom third of the league this year. Their top cornerback at the start of the season, Amani Oruwariye, struggled to start the season and was a healthy scratch for two games. 2020 first round pick Jeff Okudah completely shut down Justin Jefferson in week one, but since then he has just been average.
Hill is leading the league in receptions and yards and has the third highest target share in the league. If this game turns into a shootout as expected, you can expect a few big plays going Hill’s way.
Jaylen Waddle over 64.5 receiving yards (-115)
For similar reasons as Hill, I also like the over on Jaylen Waddle’s receiving yards prop line. Waddle has actually been more consistent than Hill, having the hit the over in five of his seven games compared to four out of seven for Hill. Waddle benefits from the presence of Hill drawing so much attention from opposing defenses, and he is more likely to draw the matchup with Oruwariye rather than Okudah.
Waddle’s numbers may not be as gaudy as Hill’s, but with a lower number to clear and slightly better value on the odds, his over might be the better bet than Hill’s. It would not be surprising at all if both Dolphins receivers hit the over this week. They have done that three times already this season.
Raheem Mostert over 66.5 rushing yards (-120)
Since taking over as the lead runner in the Dolphins’ backfield in week four, Mostert has averaged 77.5 rushing yards on 15.75 carries per game (4.92 yards per carry). He has hit the over on his rushing yards prop in three out of those four weeks.
The Lions have the 31st ranked rushing defense in the league, allowing 162.8 yards per game. They have allowed their opponent’s leading rusher to hit their prop line in five out of six games this year. Only Washington’s Antonio Gibson, who has since lost his starting job to rookie Brian Robinson Jr., failed to do so.
