Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears Player Props (12/20/21)

The Minnesota Vikings travels to Chicago to play their NFC North division foe the Bears at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football.  Minnesota is coming off a primetime victory over Pittsburgh 36-28 to start week 14.  The Vikings are averaging 26.5 points per game, having scored at least 30 points six times this season.  Chicago is coming off a road loss to Green Bay last Sunday night, 45-30.  The Bears have been outscored 108-81 in their last four games.

The Vikings are a 6-point road favorite over the Bears.  The Bears are 4-9 against the spread; 2-4 at home this season.  Minnesota is 0-7 against the spread vs. a team with a losing record.  Chicago is 0-5 against the spread in their last five games as a home underdog.  Minnesota is 1-4 against the spread in their last five meetings in Chicago.  The underdog is 4-1 against the spread in their last five meetings.

Dalvin Cook o/91.5 Rushing Yards

The Minnesota running attack is averaging 123.2 yards per game, ranking them 10th in the NFL.

In the win over Pittsburgh last week, Dalvin Cook ran for 205 yards on 27 carries with two touchdowns: averaging 7.6 yards per carry.  He has rushed for over 100 yards four times this season.

The former Florida State Seminole is the Vikings leading rusher this season with 978 yards on 198 carries and six touchdowns: averaging 97.8 rushing yards per game.  He’s rushed for 4,639 yards in 54 games in his NFL career: averaging 87.5 rushing yards per game.

Cook has rushed for 424 yards in his last four games played, averaging 106 yards on the ground per game.

With Cook coming off a dominating game last week, I expect the Vikings to continue giving their star running back lots of opportunities to run the ball against a Bears defense allowing 120 rushing yards per game.   The fifth-year pro will rush for at least 100 yards thus going over 91.5 rushing yards.

Kirk Cousins O/1.5 Touchdown Passes

The Vikings offense is averaging 26.5 points per game, ranking them ninth in the NFL and averaging 267.4 passing yards per game this season.

Kirk Cousins is having a Pro-Bowl season and is a reliable accurate quarterback.  In his fourth season with the Vikings, Cousins has thrown for 3,569 yards with 27 touchdowns, five interceptions while completing 66.9% of his passes with a 103.5-quarterback rating.

Cousins is averaging 2.1 touchdown passes per game in 2021.  In his career, the ten-year pro has thrown 217 touchdown passes in 122 games; 1.8 touchdown passes per game.

In his last two games against the Bears, Cousins who has never won two primetime games in a row, has thrown for 563 yards and four touchdowns; averaging two touchdown passes per game.

I expect Minnesota to score at least 28 points in this game and Kirk Cousins will be in the middle of the scoring due to the quality of offensive weapons around him. The Vikings quarterback will throw for a minimum of two touchdowns, going over 1.5 touchdown passes.

Justin Fields U/208.5 Passing Yards

Chicago is averaging 17.8 points per game which is 28th in the NFL.  The passing attack is averaging 176.5 yards per game, which is 32nd in the league.

In week 14 against the Packers, Fields threw for 224 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions while completing 54.6% of his passes.

The first-round pick in the 2021 draft is averaging 144.1 passing yards per game.  He threw for a season-high 291 yards in the loss to Pittsburgh in week 9.

The Bears are simply not a good football team with a lack of direction on offense.  Fields is being limited by throwing short passes and not being able to get outside the pocket to make plays.  The Chicago rookie quarterback has thrown for over 200 yards three times this season.  I would expect Fields to throw for approximately 180 yards, under 208.5 passing yards.
