It was a 2-1 night, as the Blue Jays and Rangers hit the easy over, although the Jays almost covered it twice themselves. Colorado and Arizona just edged the over, while Tampa put up an offensive explosion to push the game over. The total record is now 45-30. There is a full slate of games tonight, and some weather issues but no PPD are likely to occur. Both Pennsylvania teams are in play as the Pirates remain in Los Angeles and the Phillies welcome the Cubs.
Minnesota Twins @ Milwaukee Brewers Over 9.5

The Twins are visiting the Brewers in a rare meeting, and a trip to Miller Park. For one Miller Park is a solid hitters park, and both these arms have over-performed for most of the season. The Twins offense has also carried us to a ton of overs. The Twins offense overall is averaging 5.7 runs per game, while the Brewers offense has been a bit lackluster of late. Given they have been dealing with major injuries it makes sense. However, Martin Perez has allowed 14 ER over his last three starts, and the over is 2-1. Chase Anderson continues to out pitch his ERA estimators, but I wouldn’t bank on that tonight against the Twins. Both teams matchup well against this starting arms, and in a friendly environment I am taking the over.
Jack Flaherty Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Jack Flaherty has been a monster since the all-star break. He has allowed three earned runs in 31 innings, striking out 36% of batters he has faced in that span. Over the course of the season he has had high strikeout games, and on the season he sits with a 28% k-rate. He has hit this strikeout prop in five straight starts. Flaherty’s success is credited to working in his slider more, and it sits around a 30% usage over the last five starts. His whiff rate on that slider is nearly 50%. He already has a power fastball to go with it and a curveball he occasionally works in with a 35% whiff rate. The Royals were a notorious team for not striking out, but this projected lineup has about a 22% strikeout rate against right-handers, and struggle against the slider.
Boston Red Sox @ Cleveland Indians Over 8

At first glance, Mike Clevinger and Chris Sale looks like an easy under call right? Well, Sale has been inconsistent this season, and the Red Sox offense is one of the best in the league. The over is 33-23-2 on the road this season. The Indians are 25-12 against left-handed starters, and also are in the midst of a playoff push. Sale is coming off a great start, but also has allowed 14 ER in the prior two starts. He has also allowed 15 ER in his last three starts against Cleveland and the over is 3-0. Clevinger has allowed 11 ER in his last three against Boston, but the over is 1-1-1. Overall this has been an over dominated series, as the last ten meetings the over has gone 7-2-1. These two teams are in opposite slides, and the over of 8 just seems modest even with these arms going. It is a warm night, and both offenses are at full health. Cleveland’s upgrades of Puig and Reyes are also big, even though Puig is suspended for tonight’s game. Lindor and Ramirez are both heating up, while Carlos Santana continues to be one of the biggest steals of the offseason.
