MLB Daily Pennsylvania Pitch 8/16/19: FanDuel Sportsbook Betting Odds & Analysis

Coming in off of a 2-1 night, the total is now 51-32-1. The Twins covered down in Texas with that offense piling up major runs, and the Angels and White Sox also hit the over. The Giants-Diamondbacks failed to hit the over, and that was surprisingly because the Diamondbacks couldn’t get to Dereck Rodriguez. We have a full Friday slate to choose from, and a lot of good arms on the hill.

Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox Over 11.5

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -116

red soxBaltimore takes a visit to Boston, and the over has been a friendly place here but also mostly wherever the Orioles have played of late. Aaron Brooks is on the hill, facing Rick Porcello. Boston is heavy favorites at -270, and have an implied total of 7.3 runs. Porcello is always good for a few runs, and the same goes for this Boston bullpen, even against a subpar offense like Baltimore. Both starters have over a 5.00 ERA and the over is 5-1 in the last games Brooks or Porcello have pitched for their teams. The over is 6-0 in the last six games for Baltimore, and 14 of 20 in the last Boston games. Over the last two series between these two teams, the over is 4-2. At Fenway, the over is 39-23 for the Sox, while the O’s on the road it is still 29-26-5. This is a great spot for both teams to put up some runs.

Tampa Bay Rays -2.5

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +116

raysThe Rays are monster home favorites at -311, and that means even the standard run line is not plus money. Diving into the alternate run lines again, we can get the Rays at -2.5 for plus money. This is a better way to go about this game, as Charlie Morton is someone to trust. The Rays are 41-25 in non-divisional games, and are winning 61% of their games as a favorite. The Rays lead the Tigers in about every offensive and defensive stat, outside of hitting into double plays. That is it. The Tigers offense averages 9.8 strikeouts per game, and 3.6 runs per game. They get to take on Morton, who has been terrific this season, sitting with a 2.90 ERA and 13 wins. Over the last ten meetings the Rays have averaged just 3.1 runs per game. They are 19-39 on the road and struggle against right-handed pitching. The Rays offense should be able to get to Norris for some runs as well.

Houston Astros -1.5

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -120

astrosThe Oakland A’s came from behind last night to win, and Houston will look to bounce back with a win. Justin Verlander on the hill is a good way to start. The Astros are 24-19 after a loss this season, and are winning 75% of their division games on the year. Houston is in a similar boat as Tampa where they are just dominating to the point they lead in offensive and defensive stats but the double plays per game. The Astros are 6-4 in their last ten trips to Oakland, but have a clear advantage tonight and if you go back deeper they are 11-4 SU against Oakland. Houston is 63-59 ATS this season, and 35-29 on the road. Given the bounce back record and divisional record, I can back Verlander and Houston.
