Mike Leake squaring off against Jake Arrieta is an easy way to attack tonight’s slate. Both arms have struggled most of the year, and both have a tendency to struggle against left-handed hitters. Leake has a 17% strikeout rate and 4.43 xFIP on the season. He is allowing over a .200 ISO to both sides of the plate, and over a .330 wOBA. Arrieta has a 4.47 xFIP and 18% strikeout rate. Lefties have tagged him for a .389 wOBA and .207 ISO. Six lefties are projected to be in the lineup today for Arizona. We also know the Phillies can put up runs, although their consistency has been poor of late. Both offenses should thrive in this spot, and a 9.5 total is somewhat soft. I could have seen 10.5 for this one, even if Chase Field isn’t playing like the old days.
St. Louis Cardinals @ Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5

Miles Mikolas has been pitching better, but he is in a tough spot against the Dodgers offense. They are averaging 5.4 runs per game this season, compared to the Cardinals 4.5. The Dodgers are 3-0 in the last three starts made by Clayton Kershaw, who has allowed a total of four runs and gone six innings in each. The Cardinals have had some success against the Cardinals, going 5-1 in the last six against the Dodgers, but tonight’s matchup leans towards Los Angeles. Mikolas has allowed a .369 wOBA and .195 ISO to lefties on the season. Five lefties project to be in the lineup, which is alongside Justin Turner and A.J. Pollock. Give me the over of 4.5 Dodgers total runs as well at -110.
Zack Greinke Over 5.5 Strikeouts

The rich get richer, but also any pitcher landing in Houston has been immensely better. Zack Greinke doesn’t need to be fixed, but I am curious to see what Houston can improve on. Overall he has a 24.2% strikeout rate this season, and 3.82 xFIP. 5.5 strikeouts is a bit low, and you do have to pay a bit, but it is worth it. He has failed to hit six strikeouts once in his last seven starts. Greinke will face a familiar opponent, as Colorado makes a rare trip to Houston. The Rockies on the road this season are bottom five, and have a 27.6% strikeout rate as a team.
