MLB Daily Pennsylvania Pitch 8/8/19: FanDuel Sportsbook Betting Odds & Analysis
Contents
The Diamondbacks covered the spread agains the Phillies for a +150 hit last night, and James Paxton hit the over on his 6.5 strikeout prop. San Diego failed to surpass five runs, and lost on the road against Seattle. The total record is now 36-27. It is a smaller slate, and the Phillies are the only Pennsylvania team in play tonight. There are a few big totals, but a lot of good arms on this slate.
Philadelphia Phillies @ San Francisco Giants Under 7.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -120
Aaron Nola and Madison Bumgarner square off in one of the best pitcher’s parks in baseball. A calm 7.5 total has been set, and the offenses have little expectations of doing much. In the last ten meetings between these two teams no matter the location, the under is 7-3. The under is also 6-2 in the last eight Phillies road games and 5-1 in the last six Giants games. The Phillies have a pedestrian bullpen, but the Giants bullpen has been solid this season. With two premier arms on the hill, I am expecting a low scoring game. The Phillies average 4.5 runs per game on the road, and the Giants average 3.2 at home. Not great numbers for either two teams. Philadelphia is a middle of the road team against left-handed pitching, ranking 16th in wRC+. The Giants rank 26th in wRC+ as a team against right-handed pitching.
Los Angeles Angels @ Boston Red Sox -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -136
Boston come in as huge favorites which boasts a monster moneyline. However, I will grab the spread here with Chris Sale on the hill against an Angels offense that ranks 18th against lefties. The Red Sox rank 10th. The Angels come into tonight’s game with a subpar series against Cincinnati, and overall have struggled on the road. While Fenway Park hasn’t been a paradise for Boston this year, I like the matchup here for this offense to get going. Boston is 8-3 in their last 11 home games against the Angels. Peters has a 5.00 xFIP and has allowed five home runs over his last four appearances. He will run into a Boston offense that matches up well with his pitch mix.
Jon Gray Over 6.5 Strikeouts
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -144
Colorado visits San Diego tonight, and Jon Gray has had their number in strikeouts over the last few seasons. There is a 6.5 strikeout prop tonight, and I will bet the over on this one. His strikeouts against the Padres this season have been 10, 8, and 5. Gray will face five right-handed bats plus the pitcher spot tonight. He has a 26% strikeout rate against right-handers, and this Padres projected lineup has a combined 26% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. Petco Park is a bump to Coors, and Gray’s strikeout rate jumps 3% on the road.
