MLB Daily Pennsylvania Pitch 8/9/19: FanDuel Sportsbook Betting Odds & Analysis
Contents
The Giants-Phillies game hit the under at 5-0, and the Red Sox covered the spread for the two wins last night. The lone loss was Jon Gray‘s strikeout prop. The total record is now 38-28. We come into Friday with a full slate of games, with no weather concerns which is quite the surprise. Pittsburgh visits the Cardinals as underdogs, while the Phillies remain out west in San Francisco.
Tampa Bay Rays @ Seattle Mariners Under 9
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -120
The Mariners have turned into one of the worst offenses over the course of the season, and have scored the fewest runs in the second half with a 28% strikeout rate as a team. The Rays are also a league average team against left-handed pitching on the season. Safeco is a solid pitcher’s park, and both arms are capable of holding the opposing team in terms of limiting damage. Jalen Beeks won’t go long, but this sets up the Rays bullpen to come in, which is one of the best in the league. Marco Gonzales tends to hold teams to minimal runs and works deep into games. His last two meetings against the Rays last season both hit the under, and he held to them to three total runs. This is a good spot to grab the under, on what should be a high scoring slate everywhere else.
Pittsburgh Pirates @ St. Louis Cardinals -1.5
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +124
Pittsburgh continues their downward trend, and are 24-34 on the road this season. Pittsburgh has lost in Chris Archer’s last three starts. They are also 0-3 in his three starts against the Cardinals this season. The Cardinals are a .500 team when it comes to covering the spread at home this season, but are positive on the season. They are 26-20 ATS against divisional teams, and both teams come into tonight 2-8 in their last ten. However, I will take the Cardinals to get back on track where they have been a better home team.
Walker Buehler Over 7.5 Strikeouts
FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: -108
Walker Buehler has a 7.5 strikeout prop tonight, and I will gladly take the over. He is one of the top arms in the league, and when he is at home he is lights out. At home he has a 2.54 ERA and 34% strikeout rate. His strikeout rate on the road drops to 24%. So far in the second half he has a 35% strikeout rate. He projects for over eight strikeouts tonight, and has had a lot of success against Arizona this season. Outside of his 2019 debut, where he struggled against the Diamondbacks, he tallied nine and 11 strikeouts in the last two starts holding them to four earned runs and going 15 innings. Over his last five starts, his strikeout prop is 15, 6, 11, 7, and 9.
