Miami Marlins +250 vs. Los Angeles Dodgers – 1 Unit

Something is fishy here. The Dodgers go from their first underdog role in 40 games, lose, then back to life in that ratified -300s class of favorite. Remember when the World-Series bound Dodgers lost 11 games in a row and 14 out of 15, in 2017? That team was really good, too.

miami marlinsHyun-Jin Ryu has been the best pitcher in baseball so far this season. But he has been dynamite to start a season before, and is unaccustomed to pitching through the summer. Due to injuries mostly, Ryu has pitched only 4 games in July since the beginning of the 2015 season. Two this season.

Both teams traveled East to West last night. The Marlins, however, played a quick – if exciting game in Miami. While the Dodgers battled the Phillies in long and rain delayed games the past couple days.

Every teams wins a third, and loses a third of their games. Taking a chance on the dog here.

Cleveland Indians -1.5 (-155) vs. Kansas City Royals – 1 Unit

Cleveland have been home killing teams. They just completed a comfortable sweep of the Tigers. Overall Cleveland has won 11 out of their last 13 games, 10 by more than one run. They have gone 11-2 in their last 13 games as a -200+ favorite, winning all by more than one run. Against the Royals, Cleveland has taken 5 out of the last 6.

cleveland indiansUnlike the Royals, Cleveland needs every game in can get. Despite it’s hot streak Cleveland only has a 1 game lead on Tampa Bay for the final Wild Card spot. Much of their turnaround can be attributed to their suddenly resurgent offense. After ranking in the bottom 10 of runs scored in April, May and June – the Indians are 5th at the moment in runs scored in July.

Indians will start 2019 All-Star MVP Shane Bieber. The first time all star is pitching the ball of his life, tallying 96 Strikeouts compared to only 11 walks over his last 10 games.

The Royals got the competitive portion of their done with in a 3 game sweep of the Chicago White Sox. I look for the home to keep rolling.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Detroit Tigers Under 10 (-106) – 1 Unit

Two of the worse offense in the league, the numbers just don’t add up to have a total this high. Feels like more of reaction to league-wide trends than a fair judgement of these two teams.

The Blue Jays average 4.28 runs per game which ranks 26th in the league, while the Tigers score 3.66 runs per game, 29th in the league.

It’s not like these teams are throwing out their worst starting pitchers either. Jordan Zimmerman for Detroit is a pro with too much pride to roll over. Marcus Stroman for Toronto has managed to put together a 3.25 ERA and still lose 10 games.

The Under has hit in each of the last 5 meetings between these two.
