NBA Best Bets For Monday, Jan. 6
Check out three bets below for Monday’s NBA games.
Quentin Grimes 3+ Made Threes (+140 FanDuel)
Memphis defends the paint at a high level with Jaren Jackson Jr. and Zach Edey on the roster. However, it is giving up the second-most catch-and-shoot jumpers and third-most triples per game this season.
Quentin Grimes will be a huge beneficiary. The offseason acquisition is sinking 40.6% of his 3-point attempts on decent volume this season. And here he projects to get a catch-and-should feast against Memphis’ defense.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are also out, so Grimes’ usage is expected to increase, too.
I recommend playing this at three-quarters of a unit.
Nikola Jovic 2+ Made Threes (-110 FanDuel)
Sacramento’s defense deters rim attempts, but it is giving up the eighth-most catch-and-shoot jumpers and the ninth-most 3-point attempts per game this season.
Enter Nikola Jovic, who is shooting 39.2% on triples and feasts from the corners. His role has increased recently, as he’s currently playing around 26 minutes per game (give or take a few minutes). That should continue given Jimmy Butler’s suspension and Haywood Highsmith’s questionable tag.
When Jovic has logged 23+ minutes this season, he’s knocked down a pair of threes in 10 of 13 games. Factor in the juicy matchup, and Jovic is a great bet tonight.
I suggest playing this at one unit.
Immanuel Quickley Over 7.5 Assists (+126 FanDuel)
Milwaukee’s defense struggles mightily to contain the point of attack largely because of Damian Lillard’s deficiencies and Brook Lopez’s love for drop coverage. As a result, opposing guards tend to knife their way to the heart of the defense and generate quality passing lanes.
Immanuel Quickley will likely be no exception. He is far too quick for the Bucks to stop, and I expect him to wreak havoc as a kick-out generator. Toronto quietly has solid options around Quickley who can knock down shots, too.
In two games since returning to action, Quickley has notched 26 assists and 30 potential assists. That conversion rate isn’t sustainable, but it’s enough volume to feel comfortable about eight dimes here.
I would play this line at one unit.
