NBA Best Bets For Tuesday, Feb. 4
Check out two bets below for Tuesday’s NBA games.
Clippers -8.5 (-110 DraftKings)
Doncic is a Laker! While the historic trade significantly improves Los Angeles’ long-term outlook, they are in poor shape tonight against this Clippers team.
Anthony Davis was the main force holding this defense together, and Max Christie operated as their best point-of-attack defender. Without those two in the lineup, the Lakers now have an atrocious defense that lacks rim protection and ball-stoppers.
The Clippers lead the NBA in isolation frequency and are well-equipped to hunt weak links, too. Look for James Harden, Norman Powell, and Kawhi Leonard to wreak havoc as scorers. Ivica Zubac is also a complete mismatch against a center rotation of Jaxson Hayes and Christian Koloko.
On the other end, the Lakers will likely struggle to score against this elite Clippers defense. LeBron James doesn’t have another All-Star to help carry the scoring burden with Doncic sidelined, and he has a tough night ahead of him trying to navigate Derrick Jones Jr., Leonard, and Zubac.
The Lakers desperately need Austin Reaves to have a strong night, but Kris Dunn and Jones will be difficult to shake.
Overall, the Clippers should cruise to a victory because the Lakers just gutted their defense and don’t have Doncic yet to elevate the offense.
I recommend playing the line at one unit.
Parlay (+119 DraftKings): Kyrie Irving Over 4.5 Assists & Kristaps Porzingis 2+ Made Threes
Doncic’s absence crowns Kyrie Irving as the main playmaker and ball handler for the offense. Dallas is riddled with catch-and-shoot role players and lob threats, so Irving has a huge responsibility to be a volume distributor. He’s notched 5+ assists in 20 of 26 games without Doncic dating back to the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Kristaps Porzingis is on a heater. Over his past 14 games, Porzingis has knocked down 48.3% of his triples on 6.2 attempts per game.
He meets a Cavaliers defense that protects the paint at a high level, so I expect Boston to let Porzingis launch away from deep in order to pull Jarrett Allen away from the rim.
Finally, Porzingis has taken either six or seven triples in games against Allen since joining the Celtics. If he secures that level of volume again (which is likely), then it would take an awful efficiency night for Porzingis to miss the bet.
I recommend playing the line at one unit.
