Point Guard
Mike Conley ($6,500) vs Celtics- Mike Conley was a late addition to the all-star team and since the all-star break, he has played as he belonged in the first place. In the last 2 games, Conley is averaging 21.5 PPG 2.5 RPG, and 5.0 APG while shooting almost 60% from the field. With Donovan Mitchell struggling Conley has stepped up and that has been a gift for fantasy owners. He has been about 5 points over his average for the season and I don’t think he will slow down in this spot vs the Celtics. Look for Mike Conley to continue his impressive run of efficient and effective fantasy play.
Shooting Guard
Kevin Huerter ($5,700) vs Rockets- Huerter isn’t going to put up the biggest numbers on the Hawks but he does a little bit of everything which makes him viable for fantasy owners in certain sports. In the last 3 games, Huerter is putting up 13 PPG 3.7 RPG 2.7 APG 1.3 BPG, and 1.0 SPG. As you can tell he is active on both ends of the floor and he has the ability to score more than that if his shot starts falling more. He has shot it pretty well, over 40% from 3, in those 3 most recent games as well. Take a look at Huerter tonight vs a Rockets team that has trouble stopping anyone.
Small Forward
Jimmy Butler ($9,800) vs Cavaliers- Whenever Jimmy Butler plays the Heat seems to win, and when you look at his numbers you know why. In the last 3 games alone Butler is averaging 28 PPG 6.0 RPG and 9.3 APG on 54.9% from the field. This is good for almost 60 FPPG, and in my opinion, this isn’t something that can’t completely be sustained. Sure he won’t average 4 steals per game but the other numbers are things we have seen from Butler in the past. The Cavs are one of the worst teams in the NBA so Butler may not play his full minutes load, but he should still be able to put up some big numbers.
Power Forward
Danilo Gallinari ($5,900) vs Rockets- Awful would be an understatement for how Danilo Gallinari started the season, but it looks like he has turned the corner. In the last 3 games, he is putting up 18.3 PPG and 5.7 RPG on 51.5% shooting, which is a far cry from his 40% mark for the season. New Hawks coach Nate McMillian seems to be playing Gallinari more which may have instilled some confidence in the veteran’s game. Gallo should be able to get whatever he wants vs the Rockets who rank on the bottom half of almost all defensive metrics.
Center
Enes Kanter ($7,200) vs Pelicans- Kanter wasn’t the best in the Blazers last game, only scoring 4 PTS but he was once again able to make a big impact on the glass. He has a double-double in 7 of his last 8 games and with numerous players out for the Blazers he has been a key part of their offense. McCollum will be back tonight but I wouldn’t think he will be on his full minutes load in his 1st game. He scored 11 PTS in the only other matchup vs the Pelicans this season so I have no reason to not expect to see another double-double from the veteran big man.
Sleeper Play
Aleksej Pokusevski ($4,400) vs Bulls- Thunder rookie Aleksej Pokusevski isn’t known by a lot of casual NBA fans but that may soon be changing. He has gotten 30+ minutes in each of the last 3 games for the Thunder and hasn’t disappointed. He is averaging 13.7 PPG 8.3 RPG and 3.0 APG in those games and is coming off his best performance of the year where he recorded 48 FPTS. He can score in bunches and is very good on the glass despite his smaller frame. There is a bit of risk here but at $4,400 there is a lot of upside for a guy who does so much in terms of counting stats.
