NBA DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks 3/23/21

Point Guard
Dennis Schroder ($6,600) vs Pelicans- The Lakers are down Anthony Davis and LeBron James so they have to get offense from somewhere, and I think that person will be Dennis Schroder. He scored 22 points in the Lakers last game and should serve as one of the primary playmakers for his teammates as well. Schroder showed last year he can be effective running the offense so I think we could see that here vs a poor defensive Pelicans team. Look for Schroder to have a big night vs a team allowing the 2nd most FPTS to opposing guards this season on DK.
Shooting Guard
Evan Fournier ($6,600) vs Nuggets- Evan Fournier has quietly been putting together some nice performances for an undermanned Magic team. In the last 3 games, he is averaging 23.3 PPG 3.0 RPG, and 2.7 APG while shooting 44.4% from the 3 point line. This is good for over 35 FPPG and he will have a good matchup tonight vs the Nuggets. Fournier has been involved in trade talks so I would be on the lookout just in case something happens before game time. However, if he is a full-go I would expect him to be at his best as he tries to find a way out of Orlando and onto a playoff contender.
Small Forward
Alec Burks ($5,800) vs Wizards- Burks has been very up and down this season, but it looks like we are in one of those “up” points of the year. In the last 5 games, he is averaging 17.4 PPG and 5.0 RPG and is coming off two straight games of 40+ FPTS. These numbers are great for a player of this price and he will be up against a Wizards squad that ranks 25th in the league in terms of FPPG allowed to opposing SF’s on DraftKings. While he is still priced under $6,000 I’m going to ride with the Knicks veteran.
Power Forward
Robert Covington ($5,700) vs Nets- Robert Covington’s offensive numbers haven’t been the best this season but they are improving from where they were at earlier this season. The big thing for Covington is how good he has been on the defensive end. In the last 6 games, he has put up 1.7 SPG and 1.2 BPG and has shot the ball at a 48.6% clip from 3 point range. I expect him to have even bigger defensive numbers in this game vs the Nets who are prone to have big turnover games at some points. At $5,700 I think Covington is a guy who has a high floor and has the ability to score 30+ FPTS if his shot continues to fall from outside.
Center
Nikola Jokic ($10,700) vs Magic- The big-name I want in my lineup tonight is NBA MVP front runner, Nikola Jokic. Jokic has been absolutely electric this season and in the last 6 games, he is averaging 26.8 PPG 12.2 RPG, and 8.7 APG while shooting 57.8% from the field. Nobody in the league is putting up these types of numbers so efficiently, and I think against the Magic he will have an opportunity to do even better. He should have the upper hand on offense against Nikola Vucevic, who isn’t known for his defense, and will get going early. Even if Jokic doesn’t score 25+ points he does so much he is a triple-double threat every night. Look for a huge Jokic game tonight on the road in Orlando.
Sleeper Play
Nicolas Claxton ($3,900) vs Trail Blazers- Claxton has only played in 11 games this season but he is already making a big impact. He has hit his season-high in minutes in 3 straight games and looks to have taken some playing time away from Deandre Jordan. In the last 5 games, he is averaging 9.6 PPG 4.4 RPG and 2.0 BPG. The blocks are what we like here and we hope to see those rebound numbers increase as he gets more comfortable. After going 7/10 with 16 PTS and 3 BLKs in 26 minutes in the Nets last game, I expect to see more of the same from the young big man vs Portland tonight.
