With only 1 game on the NBA slate we are only able to play “Showdown Captain Mode” where you select one player who cost 1.5x their regular salary but they get you 1.5x the FPTS.
Draymond Green ($14,700) vs Trail Blazers- I’m picking Draymond Green as my “captain” tonight because he is the perfect do it all player who is a threat for a triple-double every time he steps on the court. The points aren’t there but he has now recorded double-digit rebounds in his last 6 games to go along with the 7 APG and 10.8 PPG he is averaging in the last 4 games. In game 1 he had his way with 12 PTS 10 REB and 5 AST and numerous defensive stats and I think he will be able to get even more assists this time around. Look for Draymond to stuff the stat sheet once again in game 2.
CJ McCollum ($8,600) vs Warriors– McCollum struggled a little bit in game 1 against the Warriors going 7/19 from the field and only recorded 3 REBs and 1 AST. He was so good for us fantasy wise in the last series because he was dishing around 3 AST a game and was grabbing a decent amount of boards but we didn’t see that here. We know what McCollum can offer scoring wise and after a rough game 1 I expect to see him bounce back in game 2 of this series.
Klay Thompson ($9,400) vs Trail Blazers– If one thing is for certain, we have learned Klay Thompson is going to let it fly 20+ times with KD not in the lineup. In the last 3 games without KD Thompson has shot it a combined 64 times and didn’t hit any less than 10 FGs in each of those games. He doesn’t get to the line a bunch and operates like McCollum in a way with the lack of other stats other than scoring. Despite this Thompson is playing some elite defense, 2.0 SPG and 1.0 BPG in the last 4, so I have no problems rostering him at this price as the #2 man in Golden State.
Seth Curry ($2,600) vs Warriors– We have heard about the Curry vs Curry brother story way too often but I actually like the younger brother in this matchup at only $2,600. With only 1 game on the slate we are going to have to find some diamonds in the rough and I think after what we saw from Curry in game 1 was somewhat encouraging even if he went 1/7 from the field. He got a good # of shots up for someone in this range and even contributed 3 REB 2 AST and 1 BLK & 2 STL for his troubles. If you need a flyer take a long look at Curry for his shooting ability.
