Point Guard
Damian Lillard ($10,300) vs Nuggets- Lillard went off on Tuesday night for 92.5 FPTS in 52 minutes of action in 2OT vs Denver. He hit 12 threes en-route to 55 points and 10 dimes while shooting a superb 70.8% from the field. It would be foolish to expect his kind of performance again, but this is a must-win game for Portland and Lillard is going to have to be at his best. Not only do I like his scoring but I like how he has recorded 10+ assists in 5 of his last 6 games vs Denver. This only boosts his fantasy value so even if he doesn’t shoot the best he should be able to put up enough FPTS to be valuable at this sky-high price.
Shooting Guard
Austin Rivers ($4,500) vs Trail Blazers- Austin Rivers has been one of the biggest surprises of this series so far. He was signed off the street when Jamal Murray went down and he has proven to be a key piece off in this offense. He played 47 minutes in their last game recording 18 PTS and 7 AST which was good for 31.25 FPTS. He played a lot more minutes than Campazzo in this game and that could be a trend we will see more in future games. Getting Rivers at this price with the way he is shooting, 48.3% from 3 in the last 5 games, is superb and he will be in my lineup.
Small Forward
Talen Horton-Tucker ($3,300) vs Suns- Horton-Tucker is a bit of a risk here because he hasn’t been in the rotation during this series, but he played well in garbage time and could have earned himself some more minutes. The Lakers need help on the offensive end and that is something THT could provide for them. If you roster THT and he plays 20 minutes he could put your lineup over the top but he could be on the bench still and tank your lineup. It is a risk I would consider taking especially if the Lakers look for more offense in this game.
Power Forward
Michael Porter Jr. ($6,900) vs Trail Blazers- After a rough couple of games, Michael Porter Jr. really turned it around in game 5 going for 26 PTS 12 REB on 76.9% shooting from the field. This is the MPJ that we have seen in the past and one we can expect in the future. He is active on the glass and when his shot is falling he could be the key piece behind Jokic in the Nuggets offense. After this most recent performance, I would bet on him having another great night shooting the ball and he will have to be a focal point in the offense with all the attention focused on the likely MVP of the league.
Center
Robert Covington ($5,100) vs Nuggets- Robert Covington had his best game of the series on Tuesday putting up 19 PTS 11 REB and adding 2 steals. He honestly should have had more if he would have just finished some easy putback buckets as the game was coming down to the wire. He was forced to play more with Nurkic fouling out but it was good to see his shot finally falling and seeing him shoot it double-digit times. Covington is a beast on the defensive end and will always get playing time because of it, but if he starts clicking on offense he could be a great value play here.
Sleeper Play
Carmelo Anthony ($4,200) vs Nuggets- Damian Lillard needs some help and I think that help could come from Melo. Melo has not been shooting the ball sell in this series besides game 1, but he has still scored 17+ FPTS in 4 of the 5 games played thus far. Carmelo is a scorer so he continues to let the shots go it’s just a matter of getting them to fall. There isn’t a lot to go off here other than hoping he returns to form, but if he does, we could see a 30+ FPT game from the veteran.
