Point Guard
Jordan Clarkson ($5,800) vs Clippers- The 2020/21 6th man of the year, Jordan Clarkson, has been superb scoring off the bench for Utah this season. He comes into this game averaging 21.0 PPG in the last 3 on a pretty efficient 45% from the field. Clarkson is in the game to do 1 thing and that’s to score, so we have to tamper fantasy expectations. He started off the postseason slow but he got on a groove and will be needed in this tough series vs the Clippers. The floor for Clarkson is high with the amount of shots he takes on any given night so he will be on my roster tonight.
Shooting Guard
Terance Mann ($3,300) vs Jazz- Terance Mann has taken most of Patrick Beverley’s minutes and he has shown flashes of very good production. He played a playoff high 26 minutes on Sunday and was solid coming away with 13 PTS 5 REB and hitting a couple three pointers. He may have earned himself some more playing time in this series and he has proven to be a pest of the defensive end as well. At only $3,300 Mann could be worth a long look if you want to roster a couple bigger named players at different positions.
Small Forward
Kawhi Leonard ($9,900) vs Jazz- Kawhi has been ridiculous during the playoffs so far with his efficiency scoring the basketball. In the last 5 games Kawhi is averaging 31.6 PPG 7.8 RPG 4.6 APG while shooting 64.8% from the field and 44.4% from 3. Those are crazy numbers and I don’t even think they will fall off that much. Kawhi can get whatever shot he wants and he has been more active on the glass with the Clippers going smaller more often. We’ll see what happens during this series but with a 52.1 FPPG average vs the Jazz in the regular season, I think Kawhi is a pretty safe bet at this price point tonight.
Power Forward
John Collins ($5,600) vs 76ers- Consistency has been an issue for John Collins this season but after what we saw in game 1, I think he has a solid matchup here. With Joel Embiid not moving as well on defense that opened up a lot of lobs for Collins with so much focus on Trae Young. The pick-and-roll has been killer for this team and I think that continues tonight. The best thing we saw from game 1 was his ability to shoot the ball from outside, where he knocked down 3 of his 4 three point attempts. Collins is dirt cheap in tonight’s slate, which means he will likely be highly owned, but he should be solid here.
Center
Rudy Gobert ($7,900) vs Clippers- Gobert played very well in his first playoff series of the season scoring 41+ FPTS in 3 of the 5 games. He has been a menace on the glass and the defensive end. He also scored a lot more than he usually does and he put up 18.3 PPG in the final 3 games of the series on 73.3% shooting. Gobert will always be there for the put back dunks and lobs and if the Clippers go small again that could be huge. With Gobert averaging 14.3 PPG and 14.7 RPG vs the Clippers this year, I feel confident having him in my lineup tonight.
Sleeper Play
Luke Kennard ($3,200) vs Jazz- It’s unclear how much Kennard will play, if at all, but he showed some flashes in game 7 of their last series. Kennard is a superb shooter and has shown he can play well when given minutes in previous seasons. If the Clippers are looking for some offense help of the bench he could be the guy who supplies that. There is obviously risk here given the lack of consistent playing time but if you are willing to take a risk in a 2 game slate I think this is one that could pay off in the end.
