Fred VanVleet ($7,700) vs Magic– Fred VanVleet has entered the NBA bubble shooting lights out from the 3 point line. He is 10/19 through 2 games this season and has been contributing in other areas with 5 RPG and 7.5 APG. He really had himself a game vs a tough Miami Heat defense scoring 36 PTS with 5 REB and 4 AST. VanVleet is a very solid option against a Magic team that is on the 2nd game of a back-to-back and has been giving up a lot of points lately. I am expecting at least 40 FPTS from the Raptors guard tonight.
Derrick White ($5,900) vs Nuggets– The Spurs have needed some help on the offensive end with the absence of LaMarcus Aldridge and it looks like Derrick White is picking up some of the slack. He is averaging 20.7 PPG 5.3 RPG and 5.0 APG in 3 games in the bubble and is shooting an impressive 47.8% from the 3 point line. That is well above his season, but we have seen a number of players shooting the ball better in the bubble. Some have attributed it to playing in a smaller arena so there isn’t any issues with depth perception. Either way White has been playing very well and I like him vs a Denver team tonight that is still missing some of their better defensive players.
DeMar DeRozan ($8,300) vs Nuggets– Another Spurs player I like this afternoon is DeMar DeRozan. He is coming off of a great game where he scored 30 PTS along with 5 REB which net him 46.75 FPTS. He has now scored 27+ points in 2 of the Spurs 3 bubble games thus far and has really picked up the scoring without Aldridge in the lineup. He has also been contributing with 6.7 APG which will only add to his value. Even if he doesn’t shoot the ball very efficiently this afternoon I think he will still put up some very solid numbers as a whole.
Brandon Clarke ($4,600) vs Jazz– The Grizzlies will be without Jaren Jackson Jr. for the rest of the season due to a torn meniscus and that leaves Clarke to pick up some more minutes. He is only averaging around 11 PPG vs the Jazz this season but that is in less than 20 minutes per game. Clarke has shown at times during the season that he can put up some big numbers in certain spots. In game 1 of the bubble Clarke saw 34 minutes of game action and was able to score 21 PTS with 7 REB which we will take tonight. I don’t know if he will score that much vs Rudy Gobert and the Jazz but Clarke is very active on the glass and will put up some good numbers this afternoon.
Thomas Bryant ($6,800) vs 76ers– Thomas Bryant isn’t the best defensive center in the league but he sure has been able to score the ball. In the last 3 games he is averaging 20.0 PPG 10.3 RPG and has shot an incredible 53.8% from behind the arc. He can stretch the floor and score near the rim which makes him a pretty good threat on the offensive end. With no real big scoring options on the Wizards he has been left with the responsibility to keep them in games. It’ll be tough to score inside vs Embiid but if he is able to keep his outside shot rolling I believe Bryant will have a solid outing this afternoon.
Furkan Korkmaz ($3,600) vs Wizards– On the other side as a low cost option I like Furkan Korkmaz of the 76ers. Korkmaz is primarily a shooter and after making 0 threes in the 76ers first game he was able to hit 3 in 21 minutes vs the Spurs. The Wizards have one of the worst defenses in basketball so there could be a lot of scoring on the 76ers end. There’s risk here because Korkmaz doesn’t do anything else but score but in this particular matchup I think it will be worth it in the end.
