NBA FanDuel DFS Lineup Picks 5/30/19
Contents
FanDuel‘s single game slate offers up a unique way to play still in the NBA playoffs. There are rules to this one. Your MVP spot gets you 2x points. Your Star spot gets 1.5x points, and the Pro spot gets 1.2x points. The rest of the utility picks get 1x like normal. There are a total of five spots to fill between tonight’s game.
MVP
Draymond Green ($14,500) – Draymond Green comes in as the fourth most expensive option on the slate, and I find him actually slightly underpriced. Green ranks second in offensive rating in the last round, and assisted on 31.3% of Golden State buckets in that Portland series. He also has a 15.5% rebound rate, and is averaging 1.7 blocks per game, with 1.4 steals per game. With a lot of the offensive flowing through Green, he is going to have a chance to rack up plenty of assists in this series. Green also continues to get a bump with Kevin Durant out again. Green is second in +/- this postseason, and will log plenty of minutes in this series. As long as he stays out of foul trouble and out of Drake’s ear, he will be close to 40 minutes. While many focus on Curry and Leonard for this spot, Green is my choice with his triple double upside.
Star
Klay Thompson ($12,500) – While the shooting has been on and off this postseason, Klay Thompson is a strong option to bounce back. He is going to see some tough defense, but is still going to be less focused on compared to Curry. He is shooting 7.3 threes per game this season, and he is averaging 17 overall field goals per game. Thompson has been sneaky underrated generating 1.5 steals per game. Thompson ranks fourth in offensive rating this last round, and has a 27% usage rate. His TS% was down in the last round, but I like him to bounce back here in this spot.
Pro & Utility
Marc Gasol ($10,000) – At just $10,000, Marc Gasol makes a lot of sense tonight, especially with DeMarcus Cousins now active. Gasol has averaged 32 minutes per game in the playoffs, and has a 10% rebound rate for Toronto. His assist rate is at 18.6%, which is near Kawhi Leonard. Gasol is going to have to log minutes in this series, and I like him as one of the difference makers for Toronto outside of Kawhi. Gasol is averaging 2.3 blocks + steals in the playoffs, and he gets a slightly easier rebounding matchup against Golden State. At $10,000 he should be able to pay off his price tag.
Fred VanVleet ($8,500) – Fred VanVleet is fifth in offensive rating, and first in defensive rating in the last round. His TS% is over 60% in the last series. VanVleet is going to be needed and will likely see more run than Danny Green in this series. His minutes should be around 25-28 tonight, and he is assisting on 19.4% of the Raptors baskets in the conference rounds. With VanVleet coming around again, it was clear he was part of the success they had coming back against Milwaukee. Look for him to be a big part of the series. With DeMarcus Cousins now active, he is just $6,000 and will be a popular punt tonight.
