NBA Player Prop Picks (1/26/23)

It is an exciting time to be an NBA fan! The All-Star break is right around the corner, the trade deadline is soon approaching, and right now, we are blessed with the inauguration of NBA’s new “Rivals Week.”

This week features numerous rivalries, new and old, to excite fans with marquee matchups.

Below, we have constructed a list of all of our favorite player props for the Thursday night slate of “Rivals Week.”

Take a look at our analysis of each, and see if there are any you want to tail!

Jayson Tatum o8.5 Rebounds (+108)

It is a bit wild to consider that a prop that has hit in six of the past seven games has plus odds. Yet, here we are.

Jayson Tatum has improved as a rebounder in every single year of his career. Now, he is bringing down close to nine rebounds per game for the Celtics.

Recently, though, he has been even better than at the beginning of the 2022-23 campaign.

In two of his past three games, he has brought down 14 and 19 rebounds, a shocking number for a small forward on a team filled with capable rebounders.

Now, Tatum has one of his best matchups yet against a New York Knicks team that just lost Mitchell Robinson to a thumb injury.

Robinson doesn’t do much for the Knicks as far as scoring is concerned, but he is an excellent rebounder and rim protector; his absence is going to hurt New York on the glass.

Tatum should have no trouble reaching double-digit rebounds in this game, as Julius Randle, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Jericho Sims will be too focused on keeping Grant Williams, Al Horford, and Robert Williams III off the glass.

Expect Tatum to swoop in and steal a ton of easy defensive rebounds.

Spencer Dinwiddie Over 19.5 Points (-104)

Without Christian Wood and Maxi Kleber, Dallas is running quite thin in terms of scoring options outside of Luka Doncic.

Spencer Dinwiddie has to turn into a reliable “Robin” to Doncic’s “Batman” if the Mavericks want to hang on to not only their current positioning in the Western Conference but their playoff hopes altogether.

This is especially true after a recent slide in which they have dropped five of their past six games.

Regardless, Dinwiddie has been solid recently for the Mavs, posting 20 or more points in five of his past six; the only game he came up short was by one point.

Dinwiddie has been forced to take on a bigger role in the past couple of weeks and he has stepped up to the plate.

Further, the Suns allow the fourth-most points to opposing shooting guards, and with so much of the attention on Doncic, Dinwiddie should score a ton in this one.

Nikola Vucevic o31.5 Points + Rebounds (-111)

It has been a season to forget for the Chicago Bulls, but that hasn’t stopped their best players, including Nikola Vucevic to put up some big numbers still.

Vucevic has averaged 17.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game for Chicago while playing just shy of 34 minutes.

As is tradition, this is a prime opportunity to hammer a talented, scoring-centric center against an abysmal Charlotte Hornets frontcourt that is allowing the third-most points and most rebounds in the NBA to opposing centers.

“Vooch” has hit this prop against Charlotte, specifically, in six of his past eight matchups and is in a great position to do it once more.

The only thing standing between us and an easy payout is a potential blowout, which is always a possibility when the Hornets are involved.

Still, there is too much value here to pass up.
