NBA Best Bets For Friday, Nov. 22

Check out four bets below — three player props and one same-game parlay.

Trae Young 12+ Assists (-140 FanDuel)

This line looks enormous for a -140 bet (at DraftKings), but Trae Young has kicked his playmaking into hyperdrive this season. He’s dishing out 11.6 assists per game and averaging a league-leading 20.9 potential assists

The Bulls’ depth chart is riddled with poor defenders who cannot stop guards from penetrating the paint. Centers also brutally exploit Nikola Vucevic’s underwhelming athleticism and mobility. As a result, elite distributors carve up Chicago with ease, which means plenty of opportunities for play-finishers.

For example, Chicago is allowing the most shots per game to rollers, as well as the sixth-most to cutters. Off-ball players who pressure the basket tend to feast against the Bulls, and Young certainly has the passing chops to feed them.

Opponents also produce plenty of wide-open triples via kick-outs. Atlanta isn’t a great catch-and-shoot squad, but there will be capable shooters on the court at all times.

Since Vucevic joined Chicago, Young has notched 12+ assists in five of 10 matchups, with all five of those happening in the past six contests. Look for him to once again rack up dimes against a Bulls defense that’s giving up the most assists per game to point guards.

Plus, oddsmakers expect the score to be tight given the spread, which would lead to a lot of minutes for Atlanta’s star.

Clint Capela Over 11.5 Points (-106 FanDuel) & 15+ Points (+215 DraftKings)

One of Young’s primary targets will be starting center Clint Capela. The veteran operates around the basket and mainly scores via rolls and cuts. That’s ideal because Chicago surrenders the most rim attempts per game and especially struggles to handle vertical threats.

Capela and Vucevic have faced off 10 times as members of the Hawks and Bulls, respectively. Capela scored 12+ in nine of 10 games and 15+ in six of 10 games.

I would play his 15+ line at half of a unit instead of the standard one-unit wager.

SGP: Giannis Antetokounmpo 30+ Points & Myles Turner 15+ Points (+131 FanDuel)

Indiana’s center rotation is in shambles with Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman both out for the season. Jarace Walker may also miss this matchup against Milwaukee, which would truly thin out the Pacers’ big-man rotation.

That’s awful news because they love to run opponents off the 3-point line and therefore heavily rely on centers to protect the basket. Good luck stopping Giannis Antetokounmpo

The former Finals MVP currently paces the NBA at just over 13 rim attempts per 75 possessions and is shooting an excellent 73.7% on those shots, according to Basketball Index. He’s probably the most dominant interior force since Shaquille O’Neal

Antetokounmpo consistently draws contact and takes 10 free throws per game. He should live at the charity stripe considering Indiana ranks 26th in opponent free throw attempt rate.

Check out his point totals against the Pacers last season: 26, 30, 37, 54, and 64. It’s such a great matchup for Antetokounmpo that he always has a chance to post Wilt Chamberlain numbers.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee almost always deploys drop coverage when defending ball screens because Brook Lopez does not possess the mobility to aggressively hedge. Stretch fives can subsequently torch them from beyond the arc, and Myles Turner certainly qualifies.

Here are Turner’s point totals versus the Bucks last season: 13, 15, 21, 22, and 26.

Finally, the Pacers will need to hand him a ton of minutes due to their injured rotation. They don’t really have other options.
