NBA Best Bets For Monday, Dec. 16
Check out two bets below for the NBA on Monday.
Cavaliers -9.5 (-110 DraftKings)
Brooklyn officially kicked off its fire sale by sending Dennis Schroder to Golden State in exchange for draft capital and De’Anthony Melton’s expiring contract. Although it’s the best long-term move for the Nets, they will immediately feel Schroder’s absence.
He is averaging 18.4 points and 6.6 assists per game while operating as Brooklyn’s main ball handler. It will be difficult for the Nets’ offense to produce without his off-the-dribble creation, especially since Cam Thomas remains sidelined due to injury.
Brooklyn’s spacing also takes a hit, which isn’t good for a team that features non-shooters like Ben Simmons and Nic Claxton. Look for Cleveland’s big man duo to wreak havoc defensively here.
On the other end, the Nets’ ineffective defense squares off against a Cavaliers squad that leads the NBA in offensive rating and effective field goal percentage. Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell should explode here.
Overall, the talent level between these teams is night and day. Cleveland has already won 14 games this season by 10+ points, so it is used to covering enormous spreads.

Tyler Herro Over 22.5 Points (-122 FanDuel)
Detroit’s defense is giving up the fourth-most points per game to pick-and-roll ball handlers, as well as the ninth-most to off-the-dribble jumpers. The Pistons’ inability to contain dynamic guards is a recurring issue for them.
Tyler Herro excels in these departments. The scoring leap is real, and his pull-up triples should be relatively clean all game — it will come down to whether he sinks them or not.
Check out Herro’s usage in two previous matchups against Detroit this season.
- 40 points on 14-of-27 shooting
- 19 points on 7-of-20 shooting
He took a combined 29 attempts from 3-point range in those contests! Herro is built to exploit the Pistons, and he’s reached 23+ points in 56.5% of his games this season.
